Yeah i'd love to see the fight, but I think 2012 might be rushing Gamboa up in weight a little soon & a little fast

Gamboa fought at 130 pounds before and looked ultramegasuper ripped, his frame/fast twitch muscle fiber will handle the extra mass IMO. I say make the fight at 140 lbs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Gamboa can't carry the weight. He has fought around Jr. Light frequently. I'm just saying at 130 there are some good match-ups... Broner, Perez, Uchiyama, maybe Mendez or Salgado
I can see the fight coming together near the end of 2012 but I think early 2013 would be better

I know Arum always wants his stars to align but Rios is a huge lightweight and I'm not sure how long he can keep getting down. Gamboa would be rushing the weight jump and then be taking on possibly the biggest and best lightweight. He'd have to box a little more than what he has been otherwise Rios sheer size and aggression will be a huge problem down the stretch.

Rios stated in an interview that he would hold off moving up in weight to face Gamboa at 135. I agree that there are some good fights for Gamboa to make at 130, like Broner, so there is no reason for Gamboa to move up to lightweight without having a few fights at junior lightweight first. Same kind of thinking for Donaire at 122 with Rigondeaux before moving up to 126 for Gamboa or Lopez.
