    Team Palle International Press Release

Through 50 years of promoting boxing, Hall Of Fame promoter Mogens Palle has experienced many crazy things.
Now the Denmark-based promoter has a new one to add to his list.
"I am getting phone calls from boxing people and from media types," Palle said Monday.
"They are congratulating me for not winning the WBA super middleweight title purse bid. Sauerland Events will promote our champion, Mikkel Kessler, against the long-inactive German, Danilo Haussler, who has only fought twice since December of 2006.
I said from the start that this was a gross and brutal mismatch and that I wanted to have no responsibility for the health and welfare of the so limited Haussler.
Now the reponsibility for what happens in this terrible mismatch falls only on the shoulders of Sauerland and the WBA."
Sauerland bid $1.14 million to win the purse bid for the bout. Kessler will receive 60 percent of the purse with the remainder to Haussler.
"This is a purse bid I did not want to win," Palle said.
"This fight will happen without my involvement as a promoter. I'm happy for that and happy that the Germans won the purse bid.
I just hope there is no unfortunate injury to Haussler. And I hope they will not hold this in Denmark where it could really hurt the sport of boxing."

    Thats pretty candid!
Obviously no love lost between Palle and these Sauerland dudes.

But he is 100% corect, this is a mismatch of Cotto-Gomez or Calzaghe-Manfredo proportions.

When i first read the thread title i was thinking , wtf?

But after reading what they have to say I have to beleive that there's no other option. Strange to see a promoter tell the truth rather than try and make out he is a worthy challenger. Respect to Palle.

I wonder if Kessler will be defending his ever so prestigious "regular interim" international house of pancakes title?

Considering that Kessler is a very talented fighter in his prime, it'd be nice if he got back to fighting opponents that I've actually heard of...

Mogens Palle har promoted hundreds of GROSS mismatches. Look at the record. On the way to the title Kessler fought Miguel Julio, the former lightweight contender. Julio looked like an overweight Muppet in there. Believe me, Palles comments has nothing to do with preserving "the integrity of boxing". There is not a man of less ethics in boxing, and that´s saying a whole lot.
