Most bad government has grown out of too much government. Thomas Jefferson
Unfortunately, I don't see that translating too well into the NFL. Call it a hunch.
I rarely watch the NFL but Russel Wilson's skill set is pretty much the same. If Johnny's ability to read defenses and accuracy improve he will be a good quarterback on Sundays.

I'm the opposite. I rarely watch college football. Well.... except for Alabama-Auburn which was a timeless classic.
But anyway, I think it's a flip of the coin with Manziel. Today's NFL prototype QB is the big, athletic type with a strong arm and a great football mind. Not sure how big Manziel is, but at first glance he doesn't seem the type that can survive the overwhelming blitzes and monster defensive linemen in the NFL without at least getting a little rattled. I could be wrong, however.
He is 6'1 which makes him as tall or taller than Russel Wilson, Drew Brees, Mike Vick, Flutie, Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas, Jeff Garcia and Mark Brunell. He may not adjust his game to the NFL but I don't think his success will hinge on his size.

If they played today, Roger Staubach and fran tarkenton would be even greater than they were when defense was legal in football.
Brees and Wilson are points off the curve. They've excelled in spite of their modest size. Starr and Unitas were back from when football players in general were smaller. Flutie and Brunell were only marginally successful in the NFL. Vick has to be considered a superior runner than Manziel, and even with that, his best days are probably behind him... at least in Philly. So unless Manziel's game translates well to the monster defenses of the NFL, his success will not be automatic. (See: Mark Sanchez, Matt Leinart, et al).
No one's game is an automatic transfer to the NFL. The NFL draft annals are full of 6'4 QB's w/rocket launchers for an arm that were total busts. Vick has better top end speed but he isn't more agile than Johnny. You can nickle and dime the list but it shows that there is a clear precedent of quarterbacks having successful careers that are similar in size to Johnny. He may not be a good NFL QB but it won't have anything to do with his height.

Just sayin'
You can dice it or slice it anyway you want. All other things being equal.... I'll take the 6'-4" QB over the 6'-0" QB any day of the week. It helps to be able to look over the line as opposed to through whatever crease the offensive line gives you.
