I think they getting a fight put together as we speak.. the winner of that will be greater !
hard to say...but my oppinion roys win over bhop way back then can be match if bhop wins in a remacth...since roys win was early in their career and then bhops win(supposbly) late in their career. but I will lean towards bhop because bhop has absolutely conquer a division and whoop all comers until the age of 40. then whoop roy jones conquerer tarver at lightheavy division. but if we mention roy and bhop as greats in our era we have to be fair to james toney, he is worth being mention with roy and bhop. even though roy has a win over james...again it was early in there career...clearly roy jones was better at the early stage but in the long run if we are talking about the whole career it is hard to say becaue bhop and toney has done a whole lot after the loses to roy jones. out of the three roy is the only one critize for hand pickingoppenents afterwards I think that hurts his career. bhop and toney has and always willing to fight anyone.plus the devestating k.o lost of roy to glen and tarver really stained his great career...only if he had call it quist after the ruiz fight I would say roy. king roy.king king!
Roy 'cuz Hopkins has such ugly teeth!
Both quality fighters, both failed to fight the best opposition out there - a fight between them now would be meaningless imo, and change nothing
I say RJJ is 'Great' Hopkins is 'Very good'

Hopkins needs to beat Maskaev for the heavyweight title , then he can make a decent case for himself being better than Jones
I think in the end it will come down to fanbase...
Even if they do fight..Whoever wins..For both roy and bernard the win would cement theyr legacy..
I love both fighters and hope they both are considered seriously as greats in future..
But i think roy is more likely due to fan base and attractiveness..And when people in twenty years are watching these fights..Roy will still be emtremely entertaining to watch...
As for bernard..I personally love his fighting style..Many dont and say he is too rough..But i see through the roughness and see it as unorthadox but great boxing...
And if toney sorts his legacy out by doing great things at heavyweight..Then i give good chance that all three will be agreeable to be remembered as the great fighters they are and have been.

I feel sorry for Roy, imo i think De La hoya over shadowed Jones in his prime, tis the only reason why he isn't so loved surly? the guy was totally amazing, and in his prime, personally i believe he would of whooped any hopkins that has ever come to the ring.
CC big h, totally agree with your statementedit, cc in 24 hr, still int he 24 hr frame from last time i cc'd you -.-
IMO it is tough....Jones was such a dominate fighter early on..He had a long period of time against no bodys...Though not his fault I mean there was no real quality guys to fight at LH....some decent ones but no good good ones so Roy was left without a BIG MEGA fight for years...The kind that define a career...and even though he won the HW title no one gave him all that much credit because it was against Ruiz?...then he struggled with Tarver and was beaten back to back by KO from tarver and Johnson....
Hopkins yes lost to Jones but early in his career...He lost his first pro fight to but look at the end result?....Middleweight champ for 10+ years...Most defenses ever?...he l;ike jones had a long period of time with no real opponents but he did end up with the BIG marquee fights...Won the middleweight tourney...Dis Mantled Trinidad...TKO'd DLH.....those fights stick out in the minds of fans more because of the high marketing....Both are great...both deserve their respect...A fight between the two is actually pointless at the moment because neither are at their best...Like Tito_BHB said..it will most likely come down to fan base
Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!
The problem I have with B-Hop is that his ONLY really big wins were against blown up little guys (Tito and DLH) past their best Not dissing him, it's just a fact

On a given day when both were at there best it has to be Jones

but roy jones became champs in 4 different divisions??
Yeah id go along with that. But i think Hopkins had a greater career all round, when you look at all the people he beat and how long he held the undisputed middleweight championship for. I also think going up and easily beating Tarver at his age is very very impressive.Originally Posted by Scrap
Over their careers, Roy Jones will be remembered as a great. If Roy Jones would have retired after beating Ruiz, he might have been seen as top 10 all time by some people. Not to mention Roy beat B-Hop when they were coming into their primes. While B-Hop's middleweight title defense streak is awesome, I just don't think he beat that many great opponents and he was just naturally bigger than all his opponents. Roy Jones at least beat B-Hop and Toney and also went all the way up to heavyweight and won a title.
So did Toney, Shows the state of Heavyweight Boxing
