Re: Illegal punches: Punching the hip bone when the ref isnt watching
It used to be common for flat footed brawlers to bang away on the legs and hips of other fighters, especially guys that like to stick and move or dance circles around them. Bruise up the legs and they weren't as fast. It became easier to catch them and corral them into corners. Also, once the hips and legs are bruised, a guy who makes his money off of being fast and agile is now distracted when trying to use his legs.
Joints are the easiest things to go for because you can do the most amount of damage in the shortest amount of time. Aside from tyson hitting guys with forearms and the aforementioned uppercut, that arm bar he liked to use, would put stress on the tendons by hyper extending it.
One of the most common ones i've seen is using your elbows to work over your opponents shoulders. Whenever you see a one fighter miss a shot as two guys come together and then throw a hand up to cover what appears side or back of his head as they fall into a clinch, Pay close attention to where that elbow makes contact with the other fighter.
Take away a fighters weapons and hes got nothing left to hit you with.
Shot to the armpit also hurt like hell because of all the nerve endings there.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.
