Default I Realized When Rating Duran's Greatness I Was Looking At It The Wrong Way.

Debating with VD yesterday and i realized when i was rating Duran i was looking at it the completely wrong way. I was just looking at his wins and losses against the best opposition he fought, and i didn't look at it from a different angle, like certain situation's adds to his greatness like, winning Middleweight Title when he was 37. When Barkley was just coming off KO Hearns. Beating Davey Moore when people thought Duran was washed up, dominating Lightweight weight class even if it wasn't strongest era of Lightweights. It stills add's to someone's greatness dominating a weight class for that long, and most of the time when you dominate 1 weight class for such a long time i tend to find the opposition isn't as good like Holmes dominating Heavyweight weight class, Hopkins dominating Middleweight weight class etc. But that shouldn't take away there greatness. I know people make think this is silly topic and obvious but i was just thinking about it for a few hours and i can't believe i didn't realize it, but i have learnt a valuable lesson just from that debate.

Out of all the great thing's Duran did during his career I can't help but think about that KO blow he took against Hearns, that's alway's the first thing that jumps to mine when I think about Duran, damn that was sweet.

When it comes to Duran's status as an all time p4p great, I think his ranking is a little overstated when you consister that many boxing pundits and other organizations rank him top 5 all time p4p. He's great for sure, but there are a few boxers who are just as deserving IMO who never come close to him in the all time rankings.
