    Default As I suspected....

Anselmo Moreno dethrones the previously unbeaten and WBA king pin Wladimir Sidorenko.

If you go to the prediction boards you'll see I changed my pick last night.

I was watching the Sidorenko fights I have and I tried to find videos on Moreno. I found a couple but all were highlights of some of his fights. But even with those highlights it was clear for me to see that Sidorenko would loose.

For starters Sidorenkos drawn twice vs. the lanky "southpaw" Ricardo Cordoba. Who troubled Sidorenko in both fights and the only reason he lost IMO was because Cordoba would let Sidorenko lead. Instead of him taking the initiative.
Which then I started seeing the Moreno footage I found and guess what?
He's a lanky "southpaw" very similar to Ricardo Cordoba BUT he'd an aggressive fighter who boxes superbly and I not only that but I was readin that he's part of a Panamanian stable that is said to have some very bright/special fighters that look like they can capture a title.

After seeing all of this yesterday I made up my mind and said Moreno would beat Sidorenko. I was convinced that since the fight was taking place in Germany and Sidorenko being German that the judges would for 1 reason or another have it MD for Moreno.

Look out for this kid Anselmo Moreno with some good guidance and a couple of adjustments in his style I think he can be something special.

Never seen a second of him before.

Doesn't shock me to hear Sidorenko lose though, he's not a dominant guy but I didn't pick him cause didn't know anything about Moreno.

Did you see the fight Mick? Seems like a pretty clear decision.

So what you're really saying is....

"Not to blow my own trumpet, but I'm f***ing amazing!!!"

Anyhow, I think I'm with a sizable proportion of folks who'd never heard of Moreno and certainly had never seen him fight. Maybe if I researched my picks more I'd be closer to Mick than I am to the bottom and/or BoxingGorrilla.

I saw the fight this morning... Pretty one sided if I must say so.
Moreno was in control throught the whole fight and his reach was key for him. Sidorenko looked tired out by the late rounds he was being aggressive but Moreno made him miss and Moreno did so well with that.

    Moreno-Sidorenko protest!
Universum Box-Promotion has protested the Wladimir Sidorenko's decision loss to Anselmo Moreno on Saturday night in Dusselfdorf, Germany. "To us, Wladimir Sidorenko didn't lose this fight," said manager Dietmar Poszwa. "Therefore we have filed a protest with the WBA. We want a direct rematch, Sidorenko should become the #1 in the world rankings." Sidorenko's rainer Michael Timm was also up in arms. "Today they took away a clear victory from Wladimir. I am disappointed by the judges. They didn't want to see Sidorenko's punches. They even took the tenth and twelfth rounds from him. I hope there is a rematch. Then we'll see who the true world champion is." Moreno, however, wasn't haing any of that. "I clearly won the fight," he stated. "As for a rematch, I'm glad to make myself available anytime." A disappointed Sidorenko commented, "Moreno was a very good opponent, very experienced. For me, I thought it should have been a draw. I'd be very happy to get a rematch

I haven't watched it yet, I may get around to it.

I don't want to steal any of your thunder Mick but my pick was in well before you changed your mind at the last minute & was for a UD.

I know you just wanted to be like me.

Although I did think Moreno would win I wasn't overly confident, but I remember in the fantasy league Starlet purchased Moreno & said something about her thinking he's going somewhere, must have stuck with me!
