Waipahu's Brian Viloria will make the second defense of his World Boxing Council light flyweight title Aug. 10 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on national television.

It will be Viloria's first fight since defending the crown in February, when he beat Jose Antonio Aguirre in 12 rounds but broke a bone in his right hand for the second time in his career. Viloria's hand has healed completely, and he expects to begin sparring next week when trainer Freddie Roach returns to the gym from the Philippines.

"Everything is going perfect," Viloria said. "I can't wait for Freddie to get back and I can get back into the ring."

The WBC has ordered Juanito Rubillar to take on Thailand's Wandee Singwangcha, with the winner getting his shot at Viloria's belt after that.

Team Viloria manager Gary Gittelsohn doesn't have an August opponent for Viloria yet, but says it will be against someone "highly rated" in the WBC and that Viloria's title will be on the line.

"It doesn't really matter who it is," Viloria said. "I will be ready."

The faces in the crowd may be more important to Viloria than the one across the ring. The bout will be broadcast on OLN (soon to be Versus) and will be held in Las Vegas two days before Hasim Rahman fights Oleg Maskaev in a bout for the WBC heavyweight championship.

"This is a great opportunity for Brian," Gittelsohn said. "It will be a chance for people to see him and continue his ascent toward the big-money fights. Everyone in the boxing community will see him."

The more I see of this guy,the more I like him. Can't wait to see him in action again!
