Hes always been proud of where hes from East L.A. born in Montebello walking distance from East L.A. he also lived in Whittier which is where I live now if you go to any restauraunt in Whittier you'll se pictures if him allover those shops there cause he wen't everywhere and anywhere.....

Where street vendors that sold food and or fruit on the streets would get 'taxed' by street gangs meaning they would charge the vendors rent to sell 'On their streets' (the gangs) If anyone even thought about selling drugs forget it they wouldn't have survived. Street gangs ran the drug dealing during those times it wasn't untill the mid 90's that it changed and drugs where then dealt/sold from everywhere and almost everyone..... By this time ODLH had already turned Pro....

The part about being from the slums, drug dealing, and addiction was Floyd talking about himself and his family. Floyd said that ODLH was an asshole in general, not specifically at the media interviews. Wow, calm down man, you're literally swinging from ODLH's nuts. From the way it seemed, Floyd was just basically saying that the Oscar that the media and fans see is not the real Oscar. Oscar didnt go after JCCs or Whitakers personal lives and family before they fought. If he did he wouldnt have many fans today. Floyds actions will follow him the rest of his career and after. Last week, Dan Rafael (who I think does a very good job covering the sport) said in his online chat that the DC press conference (which I was at as well) was the most entertaining press conference he's ever been to.
These guys are doing their job very well. One of the oldest marketing tricks in the book is to create the scenario of the young cocky arrogant fighter vs. the older, more respectable guy. Oscar is playing his role, and Floyd is playing his. And the fans who twist and turn on every word are falling right into the trap.

2. How do you know what happens in the boxing business? Could you imagine how big a deal ODLH not making weight for a title fight would hurt ALL parties involved? The WBC, Nevada State Athletic Commission, and all parties involved might have been involved with shaving off a half a pound or a pound just to make sure a fight happened. Fuck JLC-Corrales III, could you imagine Trinidad-De La Hoya not happening because ODLH didn't make weight?? That would have killed the sport. All I'm saying is that Floyd was just voicing rumors that only people close to the sport know. That's all. Just like everyone covered up Roy Jones testing positive for steroids when he was king of the sport and P4P #1 and how still not everyone knows about it.

Outside of Oscar Gabriel, we know he's got three other children out of wedlock, he's probably got even more than that. Floyd is basically saying that Oscar's got skeletons too and he's probably frustrated because people tend to look past Oscar's faults or don't talk about them. I remember when Floyd was fighting Gatti, half of the HBO special was how Floyd was a "gangster" and "beats women up." Floyd hasn't said anything about Oscar's family, in fact, in the same interview I referenced this thread on, Floyd said that he would never talk about Oscar's wife or child like Mayorga did, he felt that was going too far. Some of you guys really need to find out the real deal before responding.
