Default Hitman Ricky in the pink

    http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...._the_pink.html

BOXER Ricky Hatton has painted one of his fingernails pink - but fight fans needn't worry about their hero going soft.

'The Hitman' world champ from Hattersley put on the varnish to launch the Genesis Appeal's `Pink Pinkie' week.

The loss of his uncle John five years ago prompted Ricky to become a patron of the appeal, which aims to prevent breast cancer. Ricky also persuaded his brother Matthew, another boxer, to have his little fingernail painted pink, before restoring some macho pride with an arm wrestle.

At the launch Ricky, 28, appealed to both men and women to learn from his family's experiences and make sure they check their breasts for lumps. He said: "Breast cancer is a very, very serious problem affecting so many people. It is an issue very close to my heart because my uncle died from it.

"Me and Matt were very close to our uncle - he was our biggest boxing fan but sadly he has missed a lot of our successes, the best moments. I think if John is able to look down and see us getting involved with the charity he'd be proud of us.

    Seconds

"We had read the odd piece in the papers about men getting breast cancer but it wasn't something we thought about until John was diagnosed. It was probably the last place men would check but now I make sure I do, and I'd appeal to other men to do the same. It takes a few seconds but it could save your life."

Ricky's uncle was 43 when he died after discovering a lump in his chest. The Genesis Appeal is now asking women and men to show their support for Pink Pinkie Week - from April 30 to May 6 - by sporting one bright pink varnished nail representing the charity's pledge to `Make one in 10 none in 10'.

Ricky will be leading hundreds of men and women in Manchester's first Twilight Walk on May 6 to raise cash for research into the disease.

The appeal supports the Genesis Centre, Europe's first cancer prevention centre due to open at Wythenshawe Hospital later this year. Registration is now open for the walk, which is being organised in conjunction with Manchester council.

    It is quite insane.

Floyd wore a pair of pink gloves in honor of breast cancer victims during the Baldo fight.

From what I understand...they were auctioned off later & raised quite a bit of change for the foundation in doing so.

Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!

That was nice of him. We need boxers who have hearts for the needy and hopeless in life.
