I'm rooting for all the Filipinos being pinoy myself but I think Gonzalez will beat Penalosa not because of the age factor but because Jhonny has the style and height advantage to stamp a unanimous decision against Gerry. Bautista also has to catch de Leon early in the fight to have a chance. Gorres beats Guerrero easily. Batawang-Rosas is a toss-up but Batawang might be able to pull it off being more experienced. AJ Banal with an easy win or brutal knockout against Ortiz, and Miguel Roman stopping Domingo.

Bautista Ponce will be a good fight but I'm sure Boom Boom has been knocked down by guys with less power than Poince?(my memory is a bit hazy so I'm not sure). Penelosa did brilliantly v Ponce but not everyone is as tough as Gerry. Nor as slicj.Nor as good defensively. Bautista has the advantage over Gerry in 2 areas, power and youth. I don't think they will help him v Ponce. I favour De Leon but it'll be a great fight.
As for Gerry-Johnny,Johnny is a stylistic nightmare for him. His long arms, solid jab and reach will make it hard for Penelosa to get on the insde and land those short sharp crisp punches. Jhonny via UD.
looks like both you and I are blind I didn't see the Roman pick and you didn't see that VD picked both Gorres and Banal to win.Originally Posted by miron_lang

I know what thats like, just last month my hopes were riding on a single fighter...
Anyway!! God luck to both sides and make the best men win....
All I know is my boy JHONNY GONZALEZZZZZZZZZZZ
Is gonna destroy Penalosa, I have a lot of respect for Gerry
but all his skill will prove to be for not.

De Leon got a gift? Your out of your god damn mind. Or you just don't know boxing. I think it's the latter. Penelosa himself De Leon beat him. He pounded him all night.Originally Posted by Julius Rain

I can't help it but think hes P4P material but just can't seem to crack into it....
If he can move up again and try another shot at Super Bantam and stay there and win he'll be closing in on top 13.
Thoughts?
Of course I'll back my boy up all day, but something he has to work on is pacing in the middle rounds.Originally Posted by CutMeMick
He always opens well, but around the 6th - 8th rounds, he tries too hard to finish it. That's how he got
caught against Vazquez IMO. A little more focus on mid-round pace and he's got 118 all wrapped-up
122 poses interesting problems for him Celestino Caballero with his reach, Rafa of course with his skill and
Vazquez with his heart. So yeah not p4p yet, definately #1 at 118 for me though.

I agree. That's why Phil fighters would be big underdogs against Mex.Originally Posted by Violent Demise

Guess who's gonna eat his words?
Sweep the Mexicans? Your better off hoping that they don't all get blown out and at least are competitive. Cuz the only fight I think is a pretty easy one for you guys is the Banal-Ortiz fight. And that's only if Banal doesn't get exposed as a fraud. Which I don't think he is. I think Gorres wins, but Guerrero will put up a fight. The rest I think are pretty much blow outs. Penalosa is to old. And Bautista might be to young. The only thing undecided is which of them 2 is going to get knocked out the worse.Originally Posted by Pacstraightleft
