yeah he'd be number 1 all time..but if he can some how suck it up and win a major world title right now that would do numbers for his place in history..say he fights and beats chad dawson, or maybe the winner of calzaghe kessler....that will sway a lot of nay sayers about his overall persona...that's on a wide scale

imo he became the GOAT after he beat ruiz, and cemented it after the first tarver fight...so i really could care less what happened after that...
I don't know if you can say he was the GOAT after he beat ruiz... i find it hard to pic any one person as the GOAT now, there have been so many great fighter to compare from different weights, to different eras...

there is no doubt you can make a case for roy being one of the greatest though...

Another thing I class Roy above hopkins is down to the fact Roy chose to leave middleweight when it was a very weak and lacked true talent, he moved up and up, Hopkins stayed there untill he lost... Roy beat great fighters his own size and weight, or who were bigger...

For me it's Roy! He dominated throughout the 90's and he dominated at 3 different weight divisions.

But CC on the topic! It is a close one without doubt. They have both done so much for boxing.
    Very true
