    Schmeling anyone?
Anytime we talk about big underdogs/upsets I know everyone mentions Tyson BUT for me it's Max over Joe hands down.
When you have 2 countries behind a fight IMO it doesn't get any bigger then that I don't care what Don King and the odd makers say.

I dont know if Jess Willard was actually an underdog. Prior to the fight, Johnson had spent 2 years in France getting drunk every day, and was in horrible shape. According to the book "Unforgivable Blackness" all the insiders pretty much knew that Johnson would lose to the next half way decent fighter he fought. Leading up to the match, there instead of picking an opponent, they believed they were picking the next heavyweight champion.
Good call lance,Promoter really Duped him into coming back to U.S and The way he was chased out of country based on cooked up MANN act conviction as employed against Johnson was a disgrace.
Agree also he was out of shape and the heat and a Mammoth Willard put in on him late.At first he accepted defeat and later came back with "blocking the sun from my eyes" protest. Is the book Resent ,sounds very revealing.need to find it.

CC#819 Daxx.... Sometimes that happens when I see a list or a question in regards to something sometimes I'll just block out the old matchups and can only think of recent ones.
Funny how the mind works, when it wants to work. :P

Surely the worst fighter to ever create a major upset must be Ross Purrity.
