The Best Chins In Each Divison

I like doing lists so i'll start us off.

Heavyweight = Muhammad Ali
Cruiserweight = Rocky Marciano
Light Heavyweight = Ezzard Charles
Super Middleweight = Chris Eubank
Middleweight = Marvin Hagler
Light Middleweight = Mike McCallum
Welterweight = Sugar Ray Robinson
Jr Welterweight = Julio Cesar Chavez
Lightweight = Roberto Duran
Super Featherweight = Azumah Nelson
Featherweight = Sandy Saddler
Super Bantamweight = Erik Morales
Bantamweight = Panama Al Brown
Super Flyweight = Khaosai Galaxy/Johnny Tapia
Flyweight = Pancho Villa
Light Flyweight = Michael Carbajal
Minimumweight = Ricardo Lopez

Duran was ko'ed at 135... I say Mosley had a better chin and has right now the best chin at 147
At 154 I say Jorge Castro beause he could really take a beating
Supermiddleweight has got to be James Toney
heavyweight David Tua or Old Foreman
at 122 I would say Wayne Maculough whatever his last name would be up there
at Cruiserweight its Quawi or if you want to keep Marciano up there put Quawi at light heavyweight, but another guy could be Evander though his chin wasn't as good as it was up at heavyweight he took some huge punches from Quawi during both their fights and lived to talk about it.

Duran was never ko'ed at 135, and i think your forgetting. That Duran went all the way up to Middleweight and took flush punches from the likes of Marvin Hagler and Iran Barkley, and Barkley was a massive puncher and towered over Duran. And if we combine the rounds he went 27 rounds with Barkley and Hagler, and this was a man that started off at Super Bantamweight, so i don't really know how you can say Mosley has a better chin.

Good list ICE Eubank a great choice superbantam weight i would have gone with Wayne McCullough great chin this guy other than that i would pretty much go with your list.

With the exceptions of the Vernon Forrest fights, Shane Mosley has a real strong chin.. it's like he is wearing armor..

Pavlik took shots from Taylor which knocked him down but he got right back up.. he also took flush shots from Miranda and kept going forward.

EDIT: to clarify, i'm not saying that Mosley and Pavlik should be at the top of their divisions.. those were just two names off of the top of my head that should at least be considered.

Another good list but i would probably go with Mayweather at welterweight only ever down with damaged hand and Light welter Junior Witter never down to my knowledge Hatton down 3 times and stopped even if it was to Mayweather.But all the others can stay good list

id say someone like Mayweather or Wright have good chins but you really cant put a great defensive fighter on a list of great chins because the dont get hit flush enough.

Winky has been hit a few times in his career and so has PBF.....It does not matter if are a great defensive fighter or not you do not get to the level they are at without getting caught with a good shot here and there

They just get hit less then most

I know Julio Cesar Vazquez hit dam hard and was an under rated fighter but he dropped Winky 6 times!?That takes him out of the equation for me.As for Floyd,I'm surprised because I never really thought of him having a great chin. I don't even know if I can say he has a great chin now.Why

Most of those knockdowns were flash knockdowns El Gamo, and at least 2 of them shouldn't of been ruled knockdowns if i remember right. But i do agree i wouldn't put Winky up there with some of the best chins of all time, although i think he took Vargas's power very well.

As for Mayweather the best punch i've ever seen him take was the shot off Corley, and he took that very well. He also took good punches off Chavez, Castillo, Judah, ODLH, who are pretty good punchers.

Sorry I thought he was ko'ed be De Jesus, but your right, he just lose it, but he was knocked down in that fight. ALso in him moving up in weight IMO doesn't count for a lightweight because he didn't ahve the same chin just like Evander didn't have the chin he had at heavyweight at cruiser, Oscar definitely didn't have the chin he had later on earlier in his career, same with Hearn's chin got a lot better. There are very few guys who have maintained a great chin throughout every weight class and Mosley is one of them... HIs one ko loss which I felt was more because of the head butt then anything else is the only thing that counts against that. In every other fight regardless of how hard his opponent punched he was never hurt to my recoglection, while Leonard stunned Duran a few times, Hearns sparked him, Hagler stunned him ,but Hagler was a punishing puncher more than a ko artist.

Dont get me wrong, they have great chins but theyve never eaten 10+ consecutive punches on their feet, but that is to their credit. But well never have to know if they can stand up to that kind of punishment.

I think its a credit to Laportes chin that he went 10 with a young Kostya even tho he was obviously well past his use by date.
