    Default Hugo Pineda

This is the same Hugo Pineda that lost to Kostya Tszyu at 140 in 1996 and Felix Trinidad at 147 in 1999.
How in the wide world of sports did he get a fight with Glen Johnson last week at 175lb?
I think he started at 130lb, that is a huge weight increase during a career, maybe only Toney has gone up more recently.

    That never crossed my mind.
Great observation THIRD MAN that is a lot of weight and your also right Toney is the only man I can think of in recent times.

Of past times Duran started at around 119 and fought all the way to 175. PBF started off at 130 and has now at as a 154 lbr. tho he weighed less then that.

Both Pineda brothers are/were good fighters , who can forget the problems Rafael gave Zab a few years back.

He is well over 6 ft so he has the height to fight at cruiser.
Looked like a skeleton when he fought tszyu.
A good fighter who stumbled at the top level.

Hes at Heavyweight now And he still has good power. His last two fights were wins over Zack Page and Jeremy Bates.

    G. Jones twice challenged for the junior middleweight twice against WBA champion Laurent Boudouani. The first was a draw and the second was a very close loss. He's a tall cruiserweight, just imagine him at 154. Former Cruiserweight champion Carlos Deleon started his career as a welter-Jr. middleweight and grew to become a cruiserweight champion.

CC#26 ghoster great call on De Leon one of the greatest Cruisers of all time.

What a treat it must have been to have had the opp. to see "ST G", De Leon, Camel, Lopez & Evander all fight live in that era.
    Thanks for the insight ghoster.

Wow.. That I didn't know... Amazing he carried good power up that high.... Theoretically he must've had to have had a wicked punch for a WW, you can't suddenly find power 30 lbs higher than the weight you started fighting at..

I was gonna say Jones, crazy cause he looked like a big cruiser.

Saul Montana started his career at 168, last time out fought Tua at 242. Bit of an obscure reference

There are other guys that have just got fat and gone way up in weight, just can't think of them right off hand. Jones is different cause it wasn't like he was fat at cruiser, and he was elite in that division.

James Toney is an obvious one. Has been as low as 156 and as high as 259. Competitive the whole way even if he was fat.

I remember the first Jones Vs. Boudouani fight as an absolute Robbery.

Didn't Chris Byrd Debut at Supper Middle or Middle.
Some years ago Dingaan Thobela held the Lightweight title and sprung up to capture a Super Middle Belt.

Didn't Jorge Castro start out at 154 and end at cruiser?

BTW what happened to him, I remember he was in a car wreck and in bad shape.

Easy to forget that Pac was 105 in his pro debut. 105-130 (up to possibly 140) is a pretty good bit for a smaller guy

Actually 106 according to boxrec, assume the fight was at 105.
