    Default The 11th Hour

Just watched this Leonardo Di Caprio produced and narratted doc on the perils of global warming.

I have to say I really enjoyed it, if enjoyment is the right word. It explains what exactly is causing our enviroment to spiral out of control now, and puts the blame firmly in the hands of our reliance on oil.

It also shows how all the solutions and alternative fuel sources are available and ready to be used right now, but because of corporate greed and in particular the interests of the multi billion dollar oil industries we will not see these new alternatives put into use.

It's a fascinating documentary I would say a must watch one.

I must request though if that Lyle wants to watch this he create his own hate thread as I don't want this thread ruined with 30+ pages of Al Gore and Michael Moore hate.

    Thankyou

It does sound like an interesting doc. I hate the way we are treating this planet. A complete self absorbtion with economic growth on a national level and comfortable living on the personal level and all at the complete expense of the scarce resource that is this wonderful and rare planet we have.

I do make an effort. I recycle all that I can. I dont even drive a car. Perfectly affordable but its just not what the world needs. Nothing worse than cars and industry and noone gives two hoots about the damage they cause. Well, they do but the people that really care dont have the power to make a difference and the rest are too apathetic or else just lazy. I walk to work and enjoy the exercise. On the way to work I outwalk lines of traffic going nowhere and stuck in jams. Of course, people say that cars make their lives more convenient..and they do. Its selfish people and weak governments who do all too little to regulate anything that are at fault.

Im not perfect but I do try. I can safely say that I will NEVER own a car.

Well I do own a car, but I'm such a social hermit that it rarely gets used.

Now I even get my groceries and all my other shopping delivered I rarely have to leave my home at all. I can soemtimes go a fortnight without stepping foot outside my front door.

I really want to change that this year though, it's not normal.

I may have come on a bit strong there. I have no qualms with people owning cars but just the issues with excessive use. All those engines running whilst huge blocks of traffic run nowhere. But then where do you draw the line? I would like to erase all cars and have governents set up new environmentally friendly public transport infrastructure and have it nationalised and running cheaply or free for all. Too big a jump for anyone in this day and age though, I guess. I hope Lyle doesnt come on here and call me a communist!!

I am also all too comfortable spending the time when Im not actually working being a very homebound creature indeed. Living where I do kind of excacerbates that sometimes. Can't just pop out for a chat down the pub! Im kind of comfortable with things in general though.

Really not keen on the Chinese yellow dust that blows over this time of year though. It mixes with the pollution and is really vile. All the more reason to just stay in read and read a book.
