    Default Right Cross foot placement.

    Having altered my stance slightly, bringing my feet closer together, I'm having a little trouble pivoting for the right cross.

    I don't feel as comfortable pivoting as I did with a wider stance but it is well worth it in terms of jabbing and hooking.

    Perhaps Chris has got some tips on what movements to make with the right foot from a shoulder width stance?

    my first thought would be to check your pivot throughout the body, toes, hips, shoulder turn.

    If you've altered your stance to something new it will take a while for it to feel natural.

    Keep your shoulders over your knees,otherwise your off balance and are going to sap your power off

    My movement and balance are perfect its just the pivot I have issue with.

    It will help you get that explosion from your hips,and the drive from your shoulder,that you need to really drill that shot

    Don knowing you, I believe your breaking yourself on your front heel. Its common By turning your back foot you are still reaching the shoulders being out of line the Heel is breaking the movement. Lift the front Heel slightly and bend the knee to compensate Helps the shoulders to balance.

    Is there something that would help train that equipment wise? I had a theory a while ago in trying to understand your wobble board stuff-

    I though that shadow boxing on a wobble board and aiming to keep it balanced would prevent you breaking too much on one side or over-reaching because it would tip the board? Anything to that?

    When it actually came down to it I don't think I could do shadow boxing with any pivoting though - the board swivels clockwise when I throw the right cross etc - too much sideways movement from memory (although a bit vague now sorry) -

    Is there anything I could do to make use of the wobble board for this purpose?

    Sharla it doesnt take ten minutes, its something you work at. When you eventualy get it, its one of those things you dont forget. Its worth it Ive had kids swearing at it Kicking the F**king thing but kept at it two weeks, then they had it. Then they cant keep of it

    Oh So it does help teach when to and not to drop the heel?

    I think I wasn't confident enough of my understanding of what I was working when on it to really be as persistant as I should have been!

    So I should be able to stop all movement of the wobble board including the sideways movement in the opposite direction of the punch? I don't think I know how to do that - would I then sort of have to break on the pivoting foot?
