Default "Funtime"Frankie Gavin to fight in London(2012)

Hi folks,I've just read that Frankie Gavin will not turn pro, unless his boxing coach Terry Edwards quits as coach for the London Olympic 2012.Frankie said:"I want to fight in the London Olympics but if Terry Quits then i'll turn pro instead.
I dont know what to think of thisi cant see him fighting in the Olympics,i mean its 4years away what if he has weight promblems again?Im sure in time he'll eventually turn pro.I just feel that he has already lost his chance of the Olympics, and by time the London games begin their'll be new british hopefuls to rely on instead! If i were Frankie i would turn pro. What do you folks think?

I've followed Gavin for a good few years and he stunned me at the Commonwealths a few years back when i just sat their thinking WOW and that i was watching a young Calzaghe..
Brilliantly gifted slick fighter who just makes it look easy.
I'd f*ck the Olympics off and turn pro but i can see why he may hang it out and be at 2012.
Any of our fighters win Gold in London and they are minted and the press will be all over them especially as the host nation and if he did win which he's well capable of then he'd be offered a ridiculously huge contract by Warren, who i think will snap up Degale by Xmas too

I'd heard Gavin had been in talks with all sorts of promoters including ODH/GBP so its a bit of a surprise. Fair play to him sticking by his coach though, but isn't there a huge doubt that Edwards will still be coach then anyway?

Yeah and especially after Billy Joe Saunders dodgy sexual harrasment vid hit youtube..
I heard the powers that be directly hold Edwards responsible for not "looking after his fighters" so it doesn't look to clever for himreally.
How they can blame Edwards is beyond me?

It's not just that but 4 years is plenty time for new blood to come through.
He may be the top boy now but who's to say he will be in 4 years time
    Go Pro i say!

Exactly, imagine staying amateur and not qualifying
