    Question jab right hand

Is it true that when throwing the left jab or right cross that they should not cross youre centre line? Does that mean that they never cross paths for instance say just for examples sake if you threw the jab and right cross at the same time they would both land side by side right next to each other but without crossing over each other,Although i know this probably wouldnt be the case on the focus mitts(pads) but on the bags and when facing an opponent.Hope this makes sense....

I think - in my opinion - that they shouldn't cross over but should hit the same target if it is still your target by the time you throw the second punch.

On the bag i would not ever deliberately make a habbit of hitting adjacent points rather than the same spot if that's what you mean.

I would try to keep it balance so i didn't over balance throwing the cross which is easy to do sometimes causing the right cross to land too far to the left so you would actually hit a spot to the left of where your jab landed.

I THINK One example of how that might happen is say if i was to come up more on my right toes and perhaps be a little too flat footed on the left. Perhaps having incorrect foot placement and angles to begin with would predispose someone to that problem.

I know it is a problem I've had before but I am struggling to rationalize the reason right now - I'm sure other people on this board might be able to offer a better explanation.

Also just in general I wouldn't alway pick a set target in bag work. Perhaps try to visualize different situations as they would happen more in sparring with a target which is constantly changing and moving although i know it's much easier said than done!

Thanks for the response,i think i know what you mean. What i have been trying to do is get the jab and right hand grouped as close together as i can without actually crossing over beacause if i was going for someones head its gonna be a pretty small target sort of like when hitting the double end bag and also when trying to get straight punches of quickly i think they would get in the way of each other...
