Absolutely wrong Lyle
The Beatles played folk,big band swing,spirituals,psychedelia,straight rock n roll,country and western,et all
The Beatles used more and more complex instrumentation when noone else was.
I like early Stones, but no way on earth were they more versatile
Elanor Rigby
Your Mother Should Know
A Day In A Life
Act Naturally
Let It Be
Norweigan wood
vs
Satisfaction
Sympathy For The Devil
Brown Sugar
I wanna be your man(written by Lennon/McCartney)
Lets Spend The Night Together
The Last Time
I like the Stones before Jones snuffed it,but it isnt even close,as far as versatility
Rubber soul was their first album while on weed. The LSD thing came later. I'm not saying the weed is good or bad but they did become better song writers.

Some interesting stuff here on the influence Dylan had on Lennon's songwriting

learn something new everyday.
Of course Id like to even hear the Stones doing proper big band, because "Your Mother Should Know" was allmost perfect fpr the style.
And the most of amazing thing about the Beatles is they did it in such a short time frame. Thats whats allways amazed me about the Clash as well
Rock and Roll.

yeah, but that's not a beatles or a stones song that she's singing. And Townes van Zandt, the artist in my video, is not really known as a bluegrass guy, but he is a great songwriter.
