Default Hatton Cotto at catchweight 143/144??

    What do you guys think?

I know he will probably fight Dela Hoya, i would like to see Cotto v Hatton more than anything, at 147 i think Cotto is way to big maybe a catchweight, i think Cotto is big favourite but this fight would be way more appealing than a Hatton Dela Hoya fight, Dela Hoya is turning into a fraud, Pac Man now Hatton? He should be fighting Margorita,Cotto, Willaims or Forrest not Pac and Hatton.

I think Cotto would dominate Hatton, either at 147 or at a catchweight.

Boxing history is littered with champions who were able to deal with more than one weight division. If Hatton is so great why is it that he can't deal with it? Or is it just that there are so many more good fighters at welterweight than there are at junior welterweight.

Cotto would defeat Hatton even at 140.

The key is how easily Cotto can make the weight. Definitely making 140 was taking its toll on Cotto in the latter stages of his stay at that weight. If Cotto can make 144 comfortably, Hatton has no chance. If Cotto struggles to make the weight, Hatton's chances would increase.

I think if Hatton fought like old Hatton he might do fine, Cotto isn't one to always impose his will on his opponent, while Hatton is, I think Hatton would back Cotto up, and if Cotto is quick enough to counter Hatton then Ricky is fucked, but if he isn't than this would look a lot like Hatton-Castillo who is very similar to Cotto in many respects.

Hatton would beat any fighter at 140 including Cotto who was ready to go at the weight on numerous occasions against weaker fighters.

I don't think Cotto could make those catchweights at all anymore. Hatton looked very good, to be honest I would have rather seen them fight at 140 years ago. Still could be an interesting one, though at 140 Cotto would be too weight drained easy night for Hatton. At 143/144 it could be competitive if Cotto could make weight. At 147 Cotto dominates.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

IMO Cotto stops him....Hatton will use his usual style...And he will find Cotto too strong for him...Cotto would bust up Hattons body....

I think Cotto would be way too weight drained at 140 so that would be Hatton's best chance. At a catch weight or at 147 Cotto knocks Hatton out. That would be a sick money making fight! Let's see it!

    yea i agree.

Hatton may be good on offense but he has no defense and body shots from Cotto would bring him to a knee.

Hatton beats Cotto at 140 end of.

Hatton is suited to that weight and when Cotto came up against a relentless pressure fighter similar to Hatton he got knocked out.

    The one-dimensional Antonio Margarito.

Well said Taeth, I agree with ya, I always have fancied a peakish Hatton over Cotto ... & for certain at 140, Tho it does becomes tougher if he moves up & adds the weight...

If cotto could sustain what he did against margarito in the first 6 rounds for a whole fight he would beat any fighter at 140-147, even Floyd Mayweather IMO. At 143 the fight with Hatton would be very exciting, I think both of thier styles make a very exciting fight to which an outcome would be hard to predict. Anything could happen, but I think Cotto would be the hardest hitting fighter Hatton has ever faced. Hes such an outstanding fighter Miguel Cotto and I love watching him fight, I want to see him after the Margarito loss to comment properly on a Hatton 143 fight. But recent performaces would suggest that Cotto would get the nod at this momment in time. Hatton himself should be aware this fight can happen and would be highly entertaining for his fans.

Margarito has a chin, that makes him at least two dimensional. If Hatton has Margarito's chin, then your argument has some merit.
