Default Calzaghe: I'll probably retire!...Joe stated, "Carl who? Who's that guy? Nah."...

Light heavyweight superstar Joe Calzaghe says he will likely hang up the gloves come 2009. "I will make my final decision after the New Year but I will probably retire," Calzaghe told BBC Sport. As for fighting countryman Carl Froch, who over the weekend claimed the WBC super middleweight belt formerly held by Calzaghe and has been calling out Calzaghe for years, Joe stated, "Carl who? Who's that guy? Nah."

I always fancied JC to be far too much for Froch, & having watched him on Saturday night I'm as convinced as I ever was, & that is in no way detracting from his hard fought win the other eve ... styles make fights & JC would at this stage prove to have a little too much of everything ...

As with most Boxers re JC, The hand speed & mobility alone would cause Froch far too much of a head ache, let alone the tried & tested granite chin & nightmare style he has ... then there is always the chance of JC fighting with two good solid un injured hands ...

I really do not see how Froch beats JC if this fight did come off anytime over the next 12 months, unless JC got instantly old over night durin that fight (Hmmmmmmmm De La Hoya anyone )

there's really no one left for Calzaghe to fight at 168 besides Jermain Taylor but I don't think Taylor would win, all he has to offer Joe is the jab but I don't see how he stops him from being active. But I think I may be underrating Taylor laely, to beat hopkins ONCE at 160 says something so I don't know, and is he still being trained by Emanuel Stewart?

Calzaghe is supposed to be retiring, I don't think there was any need for the trash talk towards Froch there. Considering Froch is a fellow Brit who has just won a world title he could have given a classy response and congratulated him but he didn't. What a dick.

I'm by no means a Froch fan but I do admire his guts and fighting heart following Saturday. Calzaghe used to be my idol but what an arse he's turning into!

For me i hope this fight gets made between Calzaghe vs Froch. It'll bring back the good old days of Benn vs Eubank.I remember Calzaghe saying that he need a really good opponant to keep on fighting will Froch is a great option for him to take.He unbeaten and has the WBC title too.Calaghe would be able to rest in peace knowing if he fought and beat Froch that their'be know on to beat and to prove anymore. After all Calazghe said that froch does'nt game plan to beat him so why does'nt he just boil back down to Supermiddle weight again for one last time and reclaim his WBC belt?Imagine Calzaghe doing that,,,he would be even more of a legend.£5 is a big offer to let down.

Go on Joe give us brits what we want and make this fight happen then you can retire.

Froch has been using JC name for the last 2 years or so.Its lucky for Froch that the fight did ot happen because he would have been exposed a long time ago if it had.

Froch is a world top 10 fighter no doubt but he is not p4p classs like Joe.

Froch's defence is as poor as i have seen any champions in recent times.

I think Calzaghe is just a little pissed that he is not getting the widespread adulation that he feels he is entitled to. People still keep waving the names of other fighters in his face, implying he needs to fight this guy or that guy, and Calzaghe probably thinks this shows a certain amount of disrespect. Hence the dickishness. That's my guess.

Nah he took his trainer from the Olympics after his first loss to Pavlik. Unless it has changed since then..

You know, not that it will happen, but, if JC wanted to secure a spot in the boxing HOF.. He should take 3 fights next year and punish each opponent as he has everyone else. (Johnson, Dawson, and Taylor)
***please do not quote and respond with B-Hop, no one wants to see Hopkins be humiliated again with all the drama in that fight***

The problem is, that after fighting for millions why would he train so hard and fight for 100k's? I give RJJ proper credit for coming around and taking a few fights (AND winning them convincingly) before taking JC. Although, in retrospect, I think that he would have taken the fight and the money right after being KOed by Glen Johnson. Greedy B***h.

So anyway nothing I have said holds any weight. Joe will not fight more than he has to for less than he deserves. End of story

Joe has an ego bigger than the millenium arena.

Froch would certainly be the underdog - but i'd be rooting for him to knock the big head out. I used to be a big Calzaghe fan, but in recent times i cant say i care what he does anymore.

Great fighter, but a personality vacuum.

id imagine tam seddon would be running his own Froch cheerleading quartet if you`d like to get in touch with him im sure he can sort you out a few pom-poms, lol

However good Froch can potentially be he isnt fit too be polishing JCs shoes at this present time and should not be making stupid call-outs to fellow countrymen who have done so much for british boxing.
