The only guys that get these fights these days are either complete idiots like cortez or Nady type attention seekers.

With Bayless your hardly ever chatting about a decision his made and he has that calming instinct that allows those big fight moments to go down rather than making irrational decisions and jumping in.

The best well known ref in boxing today by quite a distance!!

Bayless is a GREAT referee. I feel like he should have all the top assignments along with Tony Weeks too. Joe Cortez, Gay Nady, and Vic Draculich need to definitely be downgraded.

I was very happy with the decision being made for Tony Weeks to ref De La Hoya-Pacquiao, Weeks is a great ref and very underrated, great MMA judge aswell.

SMOKIN" SMOGER !!! Also what happenend to Frank Cappucino? Last I've seen of him was the first Ward Gatti fight. Another guy I seem to like but dosen't get alot of fight's is Michael Ortega.

I rank Bayless as the best current ref, with Smoger 2nd and Weeks a strong 3rd.

Bayless gets most of the top Vegas assignments (Oscar-Floyd, Pac-Marquez II, Cotto-Margarito, etc.).

Smoger is the top East Coast ref, I was surprised that he wasn't working Calzaghe-Jones.

Mercante Jr. also impressed me with how he handled Cotto-Judah.

Laurence Cole (Texas) is probably the worst big name ref, with Drakulich a close 2nd.

tony weeks deserves a mention to be fair as ive never seen him make a whole host of mistakes.


Drakulich has been known to jump in unneccesarily a good few times though
