    Default Protein shake advice

Hi all I've been boxing about 2 and a half years but am still too heavy to box under which is about 110kg, im 16 by the way. I've been thinking of buying a tub of protein shake but its around £35 ($80?) I haven't got a job at the minute as im still in school but with pocket money i might be able to afford it. I wondered if it would help me lose weight as i would be putting weight on from protein but then lose fat. Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

Protein will help you repair your muscles and in theory assist in building them. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so no, you will not lose weight by using protein to turn your fat to muscle. But, if you're doing cardio to burn a solid amount of calories daily/every other day, then you can lose fat, build muscle, and drop excess weight.

Maximuscle have a dietary protein shake which can be helpful, but at your age I don'tthink its a great idea.

Just train hard, eat well and the weight will gradually disappear and promote muscle toning and development.

Would you believ it I just bought some today!

I got the "Twister" Protein mix of Whey, BCAA'S, Glutamine and a little creatine.

Tastes great and although I haven't trained yet I think its going to be good.

Not so sure about the 1-2 hr before workout deal. Maybe it is different as a gainer, not sure. I use it as a recovery, 30g protein with 5g glutamine...and as far as I know, about 5-15 mins after workout is when it is most effective.

I tried it last night Phil man, and it was BRILLIANT!
Not a twinge from any muscle after a good hard session!
