My coach wants me to practice stepping in with the jab then stepping out. The stepping out is my issue. And drills to help stepping in and stepping out? thx

Grapevines or also called crossovers will give you a bit more ability to cut in a hurry
has he not given you any?
step in/ step out
I personally like pivots as it keep you in punching range
step in/ pivot right
step in/ pivot left
Keep in mind whilst performing forward/back the issue of straight lines. They can run forward quicker than you and run backwards.
step in step out & pivot.
Just start keeping it simple then add to it.
That was a big problem but I worked on it for two hours yesterday and Im getting it. Like Missy said I prefer to pivot. Im the pivoting monster but in-and-out movement is a shortcoming. He said to just practice it, I was wondering if there were any drills. But Im getting the hang of it. I'd pivot instead though.
practice man practice.
but its good to be able to have the smoothness to do both.
