    Default Next Great Heavyweight?

WHO CAN BECOME THE NEXT GREAT HEAVYWEIGHT? IT'S HARD TO SAY IF THERES EVEN ANY H.W.'S OUT THERE WHO WILL EVEN REACH THAT STATUS BUT FOR ME ONLY ONE REALLY COMES TO MIND. THIS MAN IS CHRIS ARREOLA. I KNOW MANY WILL PROBABLY SAY THIS OR THAT BUT HE AT LEAST COMES TO FIGHT NOT TO HUG AND HOLD LIKE 90% OF THE REST. HE'S BEATEN FIGHTERS WITH PRETTY GOOD RECORDS IN AT LEAST 10 OF HIS LAST FIGHTS INCLUDING CHAZZ WITHERSPOON, AND THOMAS HAYES. IT'S YET TO BE A FACT BUT IMO. I THINK HE'S A FAIR CANDIDATE TO CLEAR UP THE GARBAGE IN THE DIVISION.

The Klits are the only two pretty much cause who else is worth bragging about? If Chris gets past Mccline then I think He will get a shot at one of the Klitoris brothers, then we can tell if he's worthy.

Arreolla will never be a great HW champion because he just doesn't seem to take the sport seriously, and whilst I like him & I think he could make the sport more accessible again, the fact is he doesn't have any real dedication to being the best. I think David Haye said it best,

"He's an absolute disgrace as an athlete. He probably has the body fat percentage of a greasy pork chop".

Arreola may possibly become the next great heavyweight doorman.

Odlanier Solis 2004 gold medalist might become something.

    David Rodriquez

    Bowie Tupou

I think those fighters will be on the way up in a couple years. I'm not sold on Arreola because of lack of conditioning and nothing really sticks out skill wise. He's been knocked down and has had a couple scary moments with lesser opposition. He really reminds me of Calvin Brock. Chris should continue fighting better quality opponents for more seasoning in Eddie Chambers, Povektin and then go after Valuev before stepping up and fighting the 2 headed Klitschko dragon.

Chris is my fave hwy right now but I'd be hardpressed to say he'll be "great" in any sense of the word. I don't see a truly grat hwy for many moons to come; my opinion anyways. Jerry Quarry would have beat all of these guys today and he wasn't even a great.

i hope someone turns up soon! i dont watch much heavyweight fights, but i watched the chambers peter fight & everyone just seems lazy, man they got a shot of a lifetime to make something of themselves & non of them seem up for it, dont know whats wrong with them, heavyweights obviuosly dont have to make weight so this will be part of it & read one time (cant remember who said it) that heavys are lazy because they always had it there way generally if life no one bullied them & many times they have a tendency to be cowards (or something along those lines).

he also comes in looking like a beached whale, Bowe was another fighter who would always come to fight, but he fell a long way from being great due to the same reason

I like Chris.his attitude, willingness and straight forward approach. No bullshit...just Chris punching you in the mouth and willing to soak up what ever you may return his way.Thats the downslide....he appears to fight day by day and lives 100% in the 'now'.Lack of conditioning speaks volumes not to mention his interviews..."F!!k it" etc. He'll be explosive while hes around, live or die by the KO and very TV friendly but I believe the clock is ticking on him.

The way things are with the division right now I'd be happy with one more great heavyweight in my lifetime. Hopefully somebody comes out of nowhere and sets the world alight like Tyson did but I'm not holding my breath. Good athletes these days can get college scholarships and become professional NFL, NBA etc. players. Even if they fail they can become a P.E. teacher. The incentive to go into boxing isn't there anymore. To be honest I'm just glad that boxing is thriving among Latinos so at least we're going to see decades more of great fights at the lower weights. I'm not holding out much hope for the heavyweights.
