    Default Ufc & Boxing

ok there clearly is a few people on this site who do not like ufc!
but i think that there is a somewhat snobbery from boxing fans to the sport of MMA as if its not a real sport. that boxing is so much more civilised or above UFC. now i just thought ufc fighters were thugs until i watched the way they train & how skilled they are abt a yr ago & ever since i have been hooked.

in boxing many fighters fight no ones for 20 pro fights or even more these ufc guys jump in straight away with credible opponents & ex champions very early even in their first few fights.

just interested in peoples views on this subject?

I like it . On the whole its the larger testing ground for warriors.

I think how they have avoided a fatality is interesting.

Boxing has them, This new version of Ufc for the moment doesnt.

They say because they are allowed to finish it on the spot; then there is less percussive damage as in the standing ten count etc.

The Ufc refs are great and onto them fast and fear nothing.

I hope it doesnt get too much like wrestling with the pre match banter and hype though, boxing has its fair share of it too, I just hope the levels remain the same,we are not fools we dont need to be re-sold anything.

I will just say that people who are considered good punchers in MMA usually don't even have a remedial understanding of boxing, maybe that helps them in MMA but just imagine if 1 of those guys actually turned over on a hook instead of just trying to throw those big George Foreman caveman clubbing style hooks....I mean sure that style worked for Big George but that dude was a beast and also as a boxer he knew how to throw combinations.

Look at Leonard Garcia's last fight....sure Leonard's my boy and all but honestly how can either Leonard or his opponent not know what's coming when they were standing toe to toe it was simple left, right, left, right, left, right....BOB AND WEAVE DAMNIT!!!!

I can respect some fighters but in my honest opinion a good solid boxer would wreck an MMA dude any day of the week. Look at Ray Mercer, sure he's been KO'd by kicks before but he destroyed the former UFC heavyweight Champ in like 10 seconds

UFC's gay, plain and simple. I don't give a shit about how much I'd respect the "ground game" if I actually studied the "art" or how hard these guys train. Alot of the guys I've seen look like boxers at their walking around weight. How can you be training hard when you've got a gut? I usually don't agree with Hopkins but he hit the nail right on the head when he said two sweaty men rolling around on the floor in panties is gay porn. I think that UFC fans look down at boxing fans just as much. Now every dickhead and his dog is the world's greatest streetfighter because he watches a bit of UFC and knows how to box because its "just one of the many elements an MMA fighter has "mastered". Man these guys are just as bad at throwing a punch as the village drunk and their defense is just as pathetic. I've seen guys get knocked down by jabs thrown while on one foot.

I probably dislike UFC/MMA/Cage fighting more than you do, but that is a pretty accurate description.
