Default Scott Harrison in trouble again while in Spanish Jail

Champion boxer Scott Harrison is involved in a fight shortly after his prison transfer. | News Of The World

SHAMED boxer Scott Harrison has been moved to a tough new jail after Spanish prison chiefs claimed he got blind DRUNK while on leave.

The ex-world champ was so boozed-up on his return after five days on the outside that warders feared he could DIE and rushed him to hospital.

Officials punished the sozzled Scots slugger by transferring him to a nick that is home to some of Spain's hardest cons and infested with cockroaches.

But we understand he has already scuppered his hopes of early release from notorious Botafuegos Prison by getting into a brawl that ended with him being battered with a pool cue.

Last night a source said: "He has KO'd any chance he had of spending Christmas back in Scotland with his kids."

Dad-of-three Harrison was given a 30-month jail term in April 2009 after admitting assaulting two men near his home in Alhaurin el Grande, Costa del Sol, in 2006.

The ex-WBO featherweight champ was locked up in the cushy Alhaurin de la Torre jail. In April he was granted a five-day pass.

But prison officials were stunned when they say he STAGGERED through the front gates at the end of his trip.

Our source claimed: "Scott zig-zagged into the jail and walked into a wall. A warder who went to help said he was drunk as a skunk. He'd obviously been on a bender."

Harrison spent that night in the prison hospital. He was then punished with a transfer to Botafuegos, at Algeciras.

Recently an ex-inmate there told how he had to block up air vents in his cell because of a plague of cockroaches.

Within a fortnight of his arrival, Harrison got into a fight with a tough Spanish drug dealer.

The brawl, on August 12, ended with Harrison suffering head injuries.

An insider told us: "Scott got in a couple of punches before he was knocked down with a pool cue."

Harrison is now under constant watch in another wing of the jail.

A pal said: "All he had to do was behave. But we fear he's hit the self-destruct button again. He could be in prison for another 13 months.

In May 2006 Harrison split with his long-term partner Jackie Reoch, 30, mum to his first two kids, aged eight, and three.

His new girlfriend Stacey Gardner, 27, gave birth to a son 18 months ago.

Last night the former air hostess hit back at the claims about Harrison, of Cambuslang, near Glasgow.

She said: "He has been moved jails but it had nothing to do with drinking.

"I was with him on his days out of prison and he was not drunk at all.

"When he went back a warder said he smelled alcohol and Scott said it was not true. Later a disciplinary board agreed there was no proof and dropped the charge.

"I think Scott was moved because the prison was p****d off that their allegation was dropped."

Stacey admitted she knew of the fight at Botafuegos jail - but insisted: "It was self-defence. It happened in the gym. He had an argument and two guys came at him with poles.

"Scott was defending himself. The prison told him it wasn't his fault."

Stacey added: "Scott is keeping his head down and wants to be home."

But we can reveal Harrison may be re-arrested on release from prison.

He still faces a separate trial over accusations he attacked three men in a brothel in May 2007 in Alhaurin el Grande - where he used to own a luxury villa.

A legal source said: "The case is still on file."

Last night a Spanish Prison Service spokesman said: "We never reveal the reasons for individual transfers."

When Harrison was in his pomp I never thought he was much cop, just a solid hard as nails guy, but looking back he had pretty good form as well as being a really tough fighter. He was certainly a more worthy "world" champion than many these days. He could have been in some really big fights.. shame

Yeah he would have mullered Burns, Martinez, Cook, Luevano and beaten (had a great chance of beating) lots of other fighters around his weight contesting "world" titles over the last few years - Rocky Juarez, Chris John, etc

Not doubting the journalistic integrity of the NOTW but in any other story i've read about his transfer there is no mention of the reasons given in this article.
I will die at my post , on the streets or in prison
