Default Jean Pascal - 2010 Fighter of The Year???

If Pascal defeats Hopkins in Dec, does he have the inside track at Fighter of the Year for 2010?. I cant really think of anybody else that has had the year he did? He would have beat 2 guys rated in the top 10 P-4-P.

    Thoughts?

hell no, IMO the front runner for Fighter of the Year is Fernando Montiel

But let's be honest, Fernando Montiel isn't going to win it and nor should he. Hazegawa was a good win but not a Fighter of the Year type win. If we're talking hypotheticals then I'd say if Martinez beat Williams then he would have a pretty strong case for him.

Other then that it's been kind of a slow year, or maybe they could just figure out a way to give it to Pacquiiao again but Pascal is a good little sleeper pick, very possible.

I'd be happy with Pascal being on the list for sure. He's one of my favs but, he's still had a top year. Laying down the law on Hopkins should definitely get him on the list IMO.

It's either Pascal or Martinez assuming they both win.

I really hope Hopkins gets dusted up in this one, which would mean a meaningful champ and an old faded ATG on the resume, so why not? Bit of a slow year like Amat said, but if he can pull it off then why not?

but on the flipside of that, if Hopkins pulls off the upset (which i doubt he will), it's just another notch on his resume, it shouldn't be a cakewalk for Pascal he showed that he's vulnerable to the right hand, specifically the overhand right, which is Hopkins' best punch, but the youth, speed, and output should be too much for Hopkins' to handle

I think JMM could be in with a shout if he wins. Now I come to think about it, there most big fighters dot seem to have had many career seining fights this year (although my memory is bad)

If Chisora pulls of the unthinkable, that alone could warrant the award! Even if Katsidis does the same, he could be in with a shout.

If were talking Ring mag I can see a Montiel, Martinez deserving in runner up. If were talking that phony ESPY shat you can be assured it will be Hopkins IF he takes Pascal...Maybe one of the brothers Grim. Someone with high visibility and exposure....Manny off Margarito fight should he win. Bank on it! P4p has really become meaningless I believe...its a selling point more or less.

Montiel has had a Fighter of the year type year. And he should get it. He obliterated an undefeated, highly touted prospect (Morales). Went into the backyard of a p4p, long time dominate champion (Hasesgawa) and stopped him. He followed that by completely dusting a solid former title challenger (Concepcion). Concepcion not only exposed overrated flip prospect AJ Banal. But he gave Arce and Donaire hell before losing. Montiel just destroyed him. He should get it
