Nice balance he has in his movements.I like him.
I think he's a sloppy spastic fighter with iffy balance and 20 fights who can be hit often. He has some serious work to do once you look passed the colorful packaging.
Ah we have our very first disagreement Mr Spicoli.
I think he gets his feet under his larger meater frame very well.
I see him over commit too when going for it.
Not so much off balance with his general moves in his early work.
Im off to watch some more of him if I can.
Which fight has he been tested the most in that I can look up?
Ha man I'll be honest. Its the hype as much as flaws . Last week or so Ive seen name dropped along with Tyson, Jones jr and Pac. He's gooood, but long ways from them. Then again I've always thought ko's were overrated ha.
He has great speed no doubt. He def over commits and gets stuck in that singular gear, often resulting in him getting caught. Think thats a result of huge push and living up to his tag-line of the next best thing and big banger. Great for fans...bad for him in the long run I believe. Balance has always bugged me....even in that last clip when he gets kd on Solis with right hook he pitches left with both legs straight and anchor right kicking out a bit. Aching for counter. His explosive offense erases alot of his flaws for now.
His fight with Darling Jimenez was billed as 'showcase' on HBO. He ruled fight but case of where his head was caught up in it. Looked like a product rushed to market and frustrated. Check it out..and yes he's gotten better.
His bouts with Speedy Gonzalez, Estrada, Jose Rojas were nice. Gonzalez was off brutal war and undersized but showed some moments with movement and boxing. Salido was a solid proven dude but single geared. Gamboa loaded up and then gets dropped. He did make some adjustment but fought way to 'tight' and flustered. I think it was Gamboas best win, or at least the one from which he takes the most. I don't hate the guy, shit he's fun TV and has natural speed but he''s always struck me as rushed and not developing reliable second game plan when all dont fall over.
I just watched him on utube against Solido ; that arms down stuff could get him into trouble if he is timed right. I thought he maybe resting his arms and not fit enough to go the distance with them but he was as fast in the finishing rounds as he was to start with, so it maybe a habit or style thing with him .
He has some very fast reactions though. I got a bit reminded of Mosleys jab with that slide forward with the snap jab for added speed. Remember Forrest had the right answer for that with the stiff jab in the face all the time.
He is fun to watch, I'd love to see him get really tested though, you're right, most of these boys look better when they are getting it all their own way. Be interesting to see the top men in the divison with him.
