Top 10 Worst Moments in Boxing History
First off the night of the Chavez-Taylor fight I was screaming at the TV for Steele to stop that fight and I KNEW how much time was left. One more shot and I thought Meldrick would have been killed. And the writer is wrong. Taylor's health wasn't subsequently ruined, it was ruined, at least in the boxing sense that very night.
If the author is really talking the ten worst moments? They would all be deaths inside the ring or outside the ring. If he is talking about the issues that have led to the decline in boxing? He's missing a whole bunch:
1. Getting fewer top quality athletes than ever before due to general increases in wealth and the rise of other sports as moneymaking options;
2. The rise of television which destroyed the local fight clubs and the rise of PPV that concentrated incomes in the hands of few fighters;
3. The rise of the alphabet gangs who are corrupt at their core in that they get paid for having "championship fights."
4. The decline of teaching due largely to number 2.

Maybe I should've posted this on the biggest myths thread...
Taylor was not dominating the Chavez fight. At the time, I thought that, when Taylor went down, that that kd would seal the win for Chavez. I had him ahead by a point or two without it. Chavez hurt Taylor in the 2nd and 5th rounds and landed the harder punches throughout.
When the boxing magazines came out following that fight, the consensus was that it was a very close fight and that the judge that had Taylor up by 8 was an ass. Curiously, writers that wrote that then now subscribe to the 'Taylor dominated' version of events.
See I thought Meldrick was clearly ahead after ten rounds. But then Meldricks face really began to look like someone was beating on him with a tire iron. But it was a shock when I finally noticed it and I remember saying to my brother Chavez must be
hitting Taylor more often than I thought.

its only due to slow motion, if she made the same look in real-time, you'd barely notice
