    Big-H,

When I wanna lose weight, I go the high protein route, and I include exercising and walks, the longer the better.

Good luck bro, keep us updated on your progress.

    cheers

you can still eat a lot of food and lose weight

preparing your own meals every meal will help reduce the calories, you can eat 3 normal meals a day or 6 small meals a day, make one big pot of food in a morning that you are gonna eat that day and then eat it when ever you want, use loads of green veg

and get to the gym, 40 minutes workout burns a meal

so if you are eating 3 meals equivalent and burning one then you should be losing weight
that dont work the same for everyone. All down to metabolism and person etc. Obviously you have no trouble keeping weight off
it does work the same for everyone

people say it is different for them are generally fat

burn more callories than you eat and you will lose weight

i dont have any trouble with my weight because i train 6 days a week, i have hardly any fat on me at the minute, i eat a lot of food too, i make most of my own meals but i do eat fast food curries burgers kebabs i drink beer (although not that often any more) chocolate
No-What you are doing is maintaining. NO the same as having to lose and keep it off.

i was 16 stone at christmas and im somewhere between 12 and 12 and a half now

after this christmas i will start trying to add some muscle again (and at my age its very difficult to add muscle without fat) so i will probably go back up around 16 and then lose the fat again

I am still losing weight now but nowhere near the rate that i was mainly because i havent got as much to lose and my body doesnt need as many callories

    so no im not maintaining

that's not what you said in your first post

& it's a bit like people who wake up one day and quit smoking then can't see the reason why everyone can't do it.

Good luck mate. It sounds like a nonsense diet to me, just someone trying to come up with yet another twist and unique angle to sell a book. But as your problem is clearly psychological in nature if it motivates you it may well work for you.

I actually think you don't need diet advice whatsoever though. You surely know what the healthy foodstuffs are and what you should not be eating, the problem lies in applying it.

I think you need to tackle the root cause, which is a behavioural disorder rather than embarking on another diet.

I would really recommend this book. It's what I used to get me on my exercise program, and Ive stayed on it for 7 months now. Really helpful book about changing ingrained behaviour patterns effortlessly. It's a great book and has some usual studies on overeating in there too.

The 'Up Day' 'Down Day' diet. I've read the whole book and there are some very interesting medical benefits to this diet, so I am going to give it a go.

Basically it involves, only having 500 calories every other day, and then just eating want you want (within reason) on the alternate days.

Being that my big problem is sustaining a weight loss program for a long period of time, because it's so restrictive, I'm hoping that this will be a good solution, as I will only, in effect, be restricted 50% of the time.

Sounds good on paper, I'll see how it goes.

    Anybody familiar with this program?
    Good luck

i have never said weather i was losing weight or not, i said i eat a lot and dont gain weight

and i never said that it would be easy, have a read back through

I said the diet he is doing is stoopid (in not so many words) and rather than put too much pressure on himself for what he is eating (because it clearly isnt working) add some exercize

    good advice dont you think?

    H. Good luck. But as we both know unless you deal with the other stuff this is only temporary.

Sounds like quite a good diet, but I'm sure the good and bad days will get blurred or you'll end up going crazy in the bad days and eating 4000 calories!
