Default Why do people ignore the fact that Toney was injured during the fight????????????

I knew it right away after Rd 1 or 2.. im not sure which round it was but I knew Toney injured himself after throwing an awkward right hand.... the dude herky jerkied back to the corner after the bell rang and it was so obvious from that point on that something was seriously wrong.

Im surprised Miles and I are the only two posters who realized this...

His balance was off because he tore his patellar tendon, not because he's old.. duhhh..

He couldnt even plant his feet for godsakes...didnt any of you realize this was due to an injury or did you really believe that it was the old age that made him look that way? smh

Toney has past it either way and so has jones. Whether he was injured or not the best has left these guys and its just paycheck days for these guys. They are all legends but hopkins is the only real golden oldie that could put on a bit of a show against these young warriors.

In another interview Gary Shaw mentioned matching Kimbo Slice against James Toney. That would be interesting.

I can imagine that if it went past the second round that would be one seriously slow and ploddy fight.

I deffonitly saw an injured man who couldnt move on the left leg properly.

What we would have seen is a few rounds of clumsyness as Toney got his rythm and movement together after a long lay off and massive weight drop. What we saw was a man who didnt even get a chance to get in the fight because of an injury. i thi k he still has something to offer but hes going to have to earn it by fighting a couple of contenders which he wont like but he needs it to get his stride back!

I'm not ignoring the fact the he was injured, it's just that time is not on his side, with recovery time & a possible tune up who's to say what Toney will have left by the time he gets a decent fight. I just feel he may have just become irrelevant...
