Against Stephen Ormond and on to Ricky Burns later in the year.
Does an ordinary joe like burns stand a chance against Kev?

I don't get the need for the Ormond fight. He performed the fight of his life against Murray now he gets a no-hoper.
It's a rip off for the fans
I expect Burns to beat Mitchell mate. Ricky Burns has beaten 2 genuine world class fighters in Martinez and Katsidis. When Mitchell moved up in class he lasted 3 rounds vs Katsidis.
Mitchell is the one with all to prove when this expected fight happens , i just feel that Burns is too busy for Mitchell and will win a well deserved decision in a great fight.
Mitchell v Burns need to happen in 2012.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
What fool would watch box nation when you can just stream the fights for free.
Finito man when are you going to give Burns a break ? How is an inactive fighter like Mitchell a REAL BRIT anymore than any other UK fighter? Don't get me wrong Mitchell is a good boxer with plenty of heart but he ain't the only UK fighter with talent out there. I never really had you down as an Anglophile and can't really see how Burns beating Katsidis can be so easily dismissed when talking about a future match up with Mitchell who was clearly overwhelmed. It all points to Burns being anything but an ordinary Joe and Mitchell having it all to prove yet at world level. I think 2012 see's the emergence of Groves and Quigg as the Brits to watch on the world stage, joining Burns, Froch, Martin Murray, Darren Barker, Matthew Macklin and Nathan Cleverly et al. Kevin Mitchell may get there but he is not there yet.
The main problem with Mitchell seems ti b outside the ring.which if I remember rightly wos his excuse for getting knocked the fuck out by kat. I like mitchell as a fighter but he defo has it all to prove.gd win against murray.but Murray is far from world title level and to easy to hit and will always struggle with a gd boxer.burns beats Mitchell wide ud decision.
Remember reality is an illusion caused by a lack of alcohol .
both on top of their game i would make it 50/50.
mitchell could easily have been world champ now if not for being a fool outside the ring. he can still do good but 2012 needs to be the year he makes it happen.
i like burns he has worked hard to get to where he is and will deserve a big payday to give mitchell a chance.
There's also been rumors of Kevin Mitchell versus Brandon Rios.
We have had this talk a few time's bud,and I all way's said Burn's,
would beat Mitchell, the only thing that let's Burn's, down is that
lack of a big punch.?But I do feel Burn's, to be the better boxer
and have the better chin.?
The thing about Mitchell,he doe's bring his problem's out the
ring into the ring, till he put's a stop to this he will never,
succeed at top level.?
Fighscorecollector... Im not going to say it's impossible for Burns to win but based on styles, it's a longshot.. BTW bruh, Roman Martinez and Katsidis arent world class opponents, especially Martinez.. Katsidis did perform on a high level during his prime but he hasn't been the same since the loss to Marquez.. Roman Martinez, Katsidis, and BUrns are all B level fighters..
GreenBeans... Kevin Mitchell is one of the very few current British fighters with supreme boxing ability and Burns isn't anywhere near his level.. He may have mental toughness but overall, he's about two notches below Kevin Mitchell..
Dia.. We are are always gonna have to agree to disagree when it comes to Ricky BUrns.. lol I just dont think he's anything out of the ordinary...
Kevin Mitchell's work ethic ahd durability are questionable but as far as natural abilities are concerened, he's head and shoulders above the rest of his fellow british fighters... He has A level talent while Burns is a solid 2nd tier.... There's a clear line between these two fighters..
Top rank is also considering Mitchell as Rios' next opponent..
Reports from across the Atlantic say that Dagenham's Kevin Mitchell (32-1, 24 KOs) is being considered as the next opponent for former WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (29-0-1, 22 KOs). Rios (pictured) lost his title on the scales four weeks ago but still managed to eventually overwhelm Manchester's brave John Murray.
If the match comes off, it would take place on a Top Rank card in Los Angeles on March 3rd, co-headlined by Yuriorkis Gamboa against Rocky Juarez.
The reports say that both sides are willing to take the fight, but Mitchell's legal problems could prove a stumbling block to him being allowed into the States.
In the meantime, rumours persist that Mitchell will in fact take on New York-based Dubliner, Stephen Ormond, in February. Although the Irishman has a perfect 11-0 log, that looks, on paper at least, to be an appalling match.
