A nice card on Showtime tonight, including Cleverly vs. Hawk, for Cleverly's WBO light heavyweight title.

Nice line up, I've been working like mad so this will be the first fight card I will be able to enjoy in a while. I like Santa Cruz's offense but it will be interesting to see how he develops defensively. My gut says Moreno is going to box Mares' ears off and somehow lose a decision.

Moreno is slick, and Mares will have his hands full, but he's a tough kid and to his credit, will fight anybody. Neither pug has much power so it will likely go to the judges and will be a tough one to score.
I'll go with Abner to eek out the decision, by something like 115-113.

I hate close fights being fought in the home state of one of the fighters, always brings out the chance of a robbery. I bet on Moreno and I know its a good competitive fight but god damn I worry about robberies.

Hometown/State decisions are pretty common these days, my guess is, it will just be a hard fight to score that could end up going either way, but no robbery.

I've never been greatly impressed with Mares, but he has hit a stride and did well in Agbeko rematch after landing 101 low blows and being out boxed in spots in first fight. I think Moreno stays frosty and mobile and will out box him over 12 for the win. Real good to see Santa Cruz keep this busy pace and have come to like this guy alot, outstanding workrate!

This one is going head to head with the HBO Martirosyan v Lara card which is quality in itself. I think Lara will get all he can handle and more. Great night of fisticuffs!

And don't forget about Wlady vs the polish bigfoot on in the afternoon Saturday. You might need a 30 pk. to cover all these fights with @Spicoli.

    a bet on the outcome.!

This is a good card. Interested to see what Virgil Hunter has done with Angulo.

I'm going to ride with Abner. On paper I suppose Moreno should cauliflower him. Anybody know what the size of the ring is?

I've been a fan of Abner Mares since prior to the bantamweight tournament on Showtime. However, Moreno looks like he has a better skill set. Yet, I question whether even with a better skill set Moreno can beat Mares. If you look at this wins over the last few years, he almost always wins close. With Mares' volume, he'll need to do more than usual. I'm very excited about the match.

This is one of the few fights im actually excited about to see, i've only seen Moreno fight once. But i've been following Mares for years and im big fan, so im going to be rooting for my fighter Mares all the way.

Mares wins it on points in a close fight that could go either way. Even if Moreno shades it I think Mares gets the decision because then they both keep their titles and their promoter is happy.
