Canelo vs. Trout Showdown Reportedly Looms For 5/4 - Boxing News

Wow! If this comes off it will be a superb event. Cannot believe they're throwing Canelo in the deep end when he is so close to a Mayweather fight. I was still kind of hoping for the Cotto fight as I thought it'd be a war but it will be good to see Canelo tested against a true 154lber.

I honestly don't think Trout has much of a shot if this does happen, but it'd be nice to see for sure, a terrific co main event.

This will be a good fight, it could be a difficult night for Canelo as Trout is no push over, Canelo can
be hit and trout will hit him. But all in all I favour Canelo, to be the winner on a close hard fought decision
    should be a good fight.!

Im going to stick my neck out here and say Trout will win,if he performs like he did against
Cotto he has a great chance, but if its a close fight Trout will get no joy from the judges.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more of a reaction because alot of people have been calling for Canelo to step up and take this fight. If we get this and Mayweather vs. Guerrero that will be some PPV. Arum will need to take note of how to pack a show for future reference. GBP know what they're doing.

This is a very good thing. If Trout falls over in 2 or pulls off the upset this is the fight that needs to happen. I don't doubt they were considering the last Cotto we saw...and that would be a sham e.

Trout is a cutey. Nice styles clash. Exactly what was the last quick jab Canelo tasted.....Gomez

Canelo is the real deal and will beat Trout, he is improving all the time and although he has fought easy opponents he has handled them well. No one can say he is protected if he beats Trout.

Trout to me is a solid fighter, and they can be very hard to beat he may not be spectacular but he
does boxing well. Win lose or draw Canelo will no he's been in a fight.!

Good opinion, @Master. Canelo very well may be the real deal and a win over Trout would vindicate all the people out there who feel the same way. I'm not sure Canelo beats Trout though, which is even more the reason why he deserves credit if he takes this fight. Trout looked good against Cotto and he has stunk out the joint before by fighting on his back foot and moving around the ring, which he could very well do against Canelo.

I have a question for you as a fan of Canelo: Are you convinced of Canelo's chin? I'm not sure that I am after seeing him shook by Cotto's brother.

Canelo has a solid chin from what I have seen of him and he will not have to worry too much about Trout or even Floyd's power. Saul just has to be able to handle their movement and boxing skills. Saul would beat Cotto.

Canelo has been wobbled a couple of times,And he really should be stopping fighters
of the caliber of Hatton and Rhodes,im still taking Trout on points.

Good match-up and good test for both fighters.

Glad to see them do the right thing instead of trying to stuff a meaningless Canelo/Cotto match down our throats.

Agreed, although I doubt it's in the interest of fairness if this comes off. Cotto probably doesn't want to fight Canelo coming off his last night out, otherwise you can bet he'd be the opponent. I'd like to see Miguel drop back to 147 if he really wants to stay relevant, he could gun for a rematch against Malignaggi or something like that for an easy bounce back.
