Default The last Record you bought

Does not have to be a current release or in any particular format. Just the last piece of recorded music you purchased. Vinyl, CD, Cassette whatever. Album, 12" EP or single

    Mine was a double CD

YOU JUST CAN'T BEAT IT the best of THE BEAT

Don't usually buy best of compilations but most of my old SKA stuff is on Vinyl and it was only a fiver (£5) has a lot of B sides on it too. It is ranking full stop

I can't remember which order I bought them in, but:

    Titus Andronicus - Local Business

Gregory Pepper and his Problems - Escape from Crystal Skull Mountain

Gregory Pepper is criminally under appreciated, IMO he is arguably the best musician in Canada.

Ska makes me wish I was deaf (unless it is being played by the Clash).

Thats weird because The Clash never played Ska. A lot of people dont realise that Ska actually precedes reggae, and that rather than being speeded up reggae, reggae is actually Ska played at halfspeed. The Skatellites had a double bass player that heavily influenced everyone from The Wailers to Lee Perry. The Beat were part of the 80s Ska revival but always had more strings to their bow than a simple two tone sound. Great songwriters, very influential band but whatever horses for courses.:-)

Last CD I bought was 2004 Kc and JoJo.

I still have my Vinyl collection, beautiful and mint.

No, they didn't play ska per se, but they did have some dub-influenced stuff that is pretty close.

I just don't like ska, I turn into Miles at the mere mention of the word.

They did a great cover of Police and thieves the reggae tune and yes they where heavily influenced by Jamaican music in general. I just find it funny that someone can dislike the S word so much because I only have to hear it and I can't help but smile and feel my spirit lifting.:-)

It's just not for me. There are a handful of ska-ish tunes that I don't mind (ie some Rancid songs), but, by and large, I just don't really like it.
