He's 23, at his peak physically and has won a gold. Yet he isn't sure if he wants to turn pro ... And might take a hybrid route ... Is he scared!? Am I missing a compelling reason to stay amateur? I don't get it!

He could want to win 2 olympic gold medals, the first super heavy weight to do so. He started boxing late and wants more amateur experience. If he waits til the next olympics and turns pro after that he would be 26 which is still young for a heavyweight.

I dont see a need for him to be rushed.

Look at the success of Roberto Cammarelle and he never went pro. Although he is doing a weird aiba half amatuer half pro tournament (?) I'm not sure exactly what it is.

Remember, not everyone needs to turn pro mate, he may be happy with his life the way it is.

He should stay and fight in Brazil, he is still young enough.

He already has a gold medal. He conquered the amateurs. Nothing left to accomplish. Time to go pro and get paid. No good reason to stay an amateur. Unless he's unsure of himself. Which wouldn't surprise me. Considering he already 23 and still an amateur.
