you answered your own question, Silverspoon Jr gets the recognition he does because of the man who started the spoon feeding, his own father, if his last name was Gonzalez nobody would give a fuck about this kid and he'd have be working part time at a McDonalds somewhere just to pay the bills, but since people are hoping that some day he'll magically become the second coming of his father well they're dumb enough to pay to see him, the Martinez fight sums up his entire career, even with a big age advantage, size and huge weight advantage, he couldn't do shit (sound familiar?!) hell he was able to hurt a tired, one legged one handed 38 year old fighter who he outweighed by about 20 lbs and still couldn't get the job done, that should sum it up right there
Fucking hilarious how bother you are at the fact that people pay to watch him fight. Probably cuz they never gave a fuck about when Vazquez or Camacho fought

It's more hilarious that people would pay to watch him fight at this point. This was a 12 round middleweight fight when it was signed, now it's become a 173 pound 10 rounder after it was already postponed over a little cut Chavez had. Ridiculous.

Lots of guys are in fun fights but could never headline a PPV, and he's not that exciting. If the guy fought anyone his size at this point he'd get beaten so easily it would only be fun to watch for people that dislike him.

Why is that held against Chavez? How is it his fault that not enough people give a fuck about them other fun fighters to pay to watch them? Cuz I guarantee you Chavez wouldn't be headlining shit if he didn't turn a profit.

It's not his fault, but he wouldn't be turning a profit it weren't for his dad, unless he worked a lot harder. Seems he is given a pass for some things that would ruin other fighters, when is the last time you heard of a fight being moved up 13 pounds and back 2 rounds within a week of the night.

Enough with the famous daddy nonsense. Last name will only take you so far. The Camacho name got junior attention. Than everybody found out he was a pussy and quit. The Vazquez last name has done much for Wilfredo Jr. It might get him the big bingo hall in Puerto Rico. But it won't do shit for him in the US but get him on ESPN. Maybe Camacho and Vazquez weren't as big a name as Chavez. But Roberto Duran was. He had a son who fought too. Same name as his father. He was a Jr. Like Chavez Jr he had no amateur experience. Famous last name or not, a lot of muthafukkas don't even know a Roberto Duran Jr ever boxed. Why? Cuz he fucking sucked. Ronald Hearns is another son with a big last name. You think he can headline a PPV? If the goal is to lose money he would. Last name won't carry you if you fucking suck

Chavez jr is an overachiever.. this is a boy who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he could have easily chose the comfortable lifestyle yet he chose to fight for a living and became a champion..

How many sons of legends can claim that? Camacho jr, vazquez jr, paez jr, eubank jr, hearns jr etc etc all these dudes havent done shit compared to Chavez..

I remember when Jr was coming up as a prospect, everybody thought of him as a joke thinking he will get knocked outvas soon as he faces someone with a heartbeat but look at all the names he has beaten. All the haters were proven wrong and that makes him an overachiever...

Chavez jr is a real fuckin fighter.. just look at him.

Ha! You Mexicans and wannabe Mexicans and Mexicans because you like nachos need to learn when to fold and cash in your chips. Jr is not going to amount to diddly and you are making more and more excuses for him. Keep digging and you will end up in Oz.

Don't be silly. Mexicans only gravitate towards the southern states of the USA, thus the holes will be leading in that direction. Australia is far stricter about immigration than minimum wage land of opportunity 6 dollars an hour America.

Chavez Jnr is rubbish. I cannot abide the fat bastard offspring of rich people and Jnr is no different. He is everything that I cannot stand in boxing. PPV's based on fighting journeymen and here he is fighting a slightly more than journeyman at an undecided weight despite the fight happening in a few days.

Chavez should fight someone like Froch. It would be funny to see him laid out in four rounds and from an uppercut of the second chin.

This is a PPV event, boxing is mad!

** Didn't fully read that, good on Veras people telling them to fuck off and I hope Chavez has to hand over a good chunk of his purse to the guy. Any idea what kind of penalty Jr will face, per pound over etc? There should really be a set % per pound for all fighters who pull that kind of crap.
Its pretty damn ludicrous, Arum is literally flipping this as "a historical event" and calls its a REVEAL ffs?! Like we should all be standing in a circus tent waiting for the flap to be pulled back so we can see the bearded woman with 3 eyeballs or some shit. HBO is being played for suckers as are the fans. He's basically saying...we'll weigh in when we want and what we want and throw money at a middleweight. Please come and watch our sanctioned mismatch...and bring cake for lil Jr. Its a farce!
I thought I had no sense of shame but Arum is something else. From another galaxy.

It's really PPV? It's not just regular HBO?

In a perfect world Chavez would have to fight Froch or Kovalev next. Or Haye. And be forced to make the weight.

This is a joke. Starts out at 163, then 165, then 168 and now 173. Next year Jose will add three more weight classes just for Jr.
