Six Nations Rugby Union
well, there's less than a week to go before the 2014 6N kicks off. The greatest annual tournament in sport.
Wales have been the best Northern hemisphere side for a number of years now, and could make history by winning the title for a third time in a row. That are big, settled but are that one dimensional and will their lack of depth prove crucial if that get too many injuries?
England should win this every year. They have more professional players to choose from than the top 8 teams in the world put together. They are still rebuilding though, and don't seem sure what their best side is. They are always hard to beat and will be hyped up for what could be the championship game against Wales at home. They will want revenge after they were crushed last year.
France have the strongest club game in the worlds, on paper they have everything but they have underperformed for a decade. When they 'click', however, they are unstoppable. Their Achilles heel, surprisingly, is the way their home crowd turns on them if that aren't doing well.
Ireland have a settled team, albeit ageing somewhat. What they have fire in their bellies that are a match for anybody. They ran the All Blacks agonisingly close and will use the recent dropping of BOD during the Lions tour to nurture that sense of grievance that serves them so well.
The Scots are a poor team at the moment, and I suspect that won't be contending for the title this year ...... But they could definitely ruin someone else's championship hopes.
Italy are developing into a decent second tier team. At home they are a tough unit, though they depend on Sergio Parisse too much. They have now beaten every 6N team except England.
