Default Have there been any Punch Drunk or Brain Damaged Hispanic fighters?

Ever? Whenever I see or hear of any retired or over-the-hill fighters who have suffered some type of damage to the brain or slurring in their speech, it's always a black or white fighter.

Are Hispanic fighters naturally more resistant to an accumulation of punches?

Something I've always wondered, but never mentioned.

There are plenty, no race is immune to a severe beating to the head.

Chacon for sure and Benitez. Not sure if the disease figured into Arguellos suicide. Lots of hispanics have suffered brain damage but died as a result.

Benitez for sure. Arguello not so sure about. Yes he committed suicide, and parallels can be made between that, and the American football players who have done the same, and had it blamed on brain damage (Junior Seau, for one). And no... no race or ethnic group is immune.

If we're talking punch drunk, James Toney is a poster child for that, unless the slurring is natural. Hard to tell.

Nah.... Toney has gotten progressively worse over the last few years. lololol......

But, most of the guys with brain damage and slurred speech is due to their exploits OUTSIDE of the ring that makes the in-ring beatings more significant- a lot of them drink, do drugs, stay up late, have terrible eating habits, sleep around, etc... all of that coupled with the in-ring trauma, and your body cant' heal itself.

To top it all off: Many of these guys don't READ and USE THEIR BRAIN. A sure sign of brain decay is when you actually fail to use it....

Fighters should take to reading more, crossword puzzles, learning an instrument and/or playing analytical games like Chess and/or Scrabble. It assists with building brain matter, concentration and focus- the matter, concentration and focus that gets beaten out during the fight and through training.

pretty dull, though, to be subconsciously wondering whether a certain race is predisposed to react better to be being punched in the head for years.

In his defense, Rios seemed pretty brain damaged before he fought.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.
