How would this fight have gone if it happened?
How would this fight have gone if it happened?
Vitali by UD or late stoppage
At earlier times it would have been Vitali by savage beating and early to middle rounds KO.
If it happened end of career as it would have I agree with the above outcome and it would have still been dominant on the scorecard but Vitali would have been much more placid about it.
"Enough with the games mate! Your messing with the Grand Master!"
Lennox Lewis
Who could beat Vitali, or at least be competitive with him?
Right now....ummm Deontay Wilder has a very slim puncher's chance. He'd never fight Wlad but Wlad would probably be the favorite right now given age & form. Vitali hasn't really sat down on his punches all that much recently but he's still got enough power to hold people at bay.
All time...Lennox Lewis of course, some will say mike Tyson but I think Vitali is just too big and covers the body too well for Tyson to beat him and Tyson would have to leap up like Little Mac to connect with a headshot or just time it absolutely perfectly to catch him. Ali because of the mobility and quick hands. Larry Holmes maybe. A younger Shannon Briggs or Corrie Sanders might pressure him more early, but at the same time a healthy Vitali would hammer the shit out of those guys again. Riddick Bowe ....meh, I don't think Riddick would like tasting Vitali's power. Evander Holyfield perhaps just because he had such a great chin and good workrate.
There's really not that many people that can be competitive with a 6'8 knockout machine that's extremely difficult to catch clean.
I haven't seen anything about Stiverne that excites me or makes me think he can be "the guy" in the HW division. He struggled heavily with Arreola and IMO was on his way to a loss before he caught him with the perfect punch and knocked him for a loop and shattered his nose so he couldn't breath.
Yeah, again Ray Austin was winning on the cards and handing out a boxing lesson until B-Ware got him. Stiverne is a guy who just looks for that 1 window all night to blast someone...if he could just have learned to jab and be a more active fighter as far as throwing punches he might have been a better boxer.
I think Arreola can catch him this go round...that broken nose really hampered him last time
I'm fully expecting Arreola to win this time. Then the fickle boxing community will forget Stiverne like they have the many other HW hopefuls that have come and gone over the last 10 years.
Like you said he strugged heavily with a 40 year old Ray Austin and Arreola, and we're talking about him beating Vitali? He would have gotten destroyed.
