Default Floyd Mayweather v Marcos Maidana 2 fight chat thread

I thought I would get the ball rolling with this being a mega fight and no doubt the biggest event of the year in the boxing calendar. The first fight in my eyes was close but I still had Floyd being the winner in a really exciting showdown. Maidana looked amazing at the start of the fight and if he wants to win he really does have to sustain that pace for the whole 12 rounds. But I just don't see how anybody can fight like that for 12 rounds, and I know hes been working on improving his conditioning but I am still not sure if he can do that.

Floyd I think knows what to expect now and will have learnt a lot from the first fight and what adjustments are needed to get the win. Like he does if he is losing at the start, he changes things and gets the win. Now he knows what Maidana is I just don't see how hes going to be silly enough to make mistakes and lose a decision and theres no way Floyd is going to get knocked out. Maidana wont be any different, just a bit more confident and that could leave gaps if you ask me. I think Floyd will win a UD decision, maybe giving away a couple of early rounds but he will be a lot more defensive and outbox Maidana.

It will be a great fight though, I am looking forward to it. I am fighting myself on the Friday night against somebody who is 5-0 so this is a big weekend for boxing for me and I cant wait for the weekend to arrive now.

Here is an interview from Maidana: Boxing News | Marcos Maidana Speaks

and one for Floyd: Boxing News | Floyd Mayweather speaks

I will post stuff that I find in the week and hope everybody else will.

I'm looking forward to this one too. Maidana really did put him to the test in the first fight based on pure rough play and I don't think Floyd really chose to stay on the ropes to entertain the fans. Despite what his dad implies in that article.
Floyd will adjust but so will Maidana; it will be Floyd trying to give a boxing lesson and Maidana not paying much attention. Just like in the first.
    Floyd UD.

Good luck to you on Saturday.

    Edit: on Friday.

Margarito kept that pace for 12 rounds and Garcia trained him for a while maybe he could teach him some better conditioning

Default The keys to Maidana winning!

I think all fighters have a chance to win. Some big, some small, some in between. Maidana's chances of winning against Floyd is somewhere between small and in-between.

Let's get this right off the bat: Styles makes fights. Maidana's style can bother Mayweather as it had in the first fight. In fact, Maidana's swarming style is the same style that was employed by Zab Judah, Jose Castillo and Emmanuel Agustus- all of whom gave Floyd tremendous trouble. Cotto used a swarm strategy for some portions of the fight as well, with some success.

    Let's look at some keys:

    1. Keep Floyd's back to the ropes for at least 2 minutes of every round. Especially the last minute of the round. Let the judges see you smother him and hitting him with shots to the liver and crown right at the end of the round.

    2. Power through with the straight jab. Sure, you are going to get hit over the top with Floyd's right. But, if you power through with it, with head low and barrelling in- especially paying attention to Floyd's feet as he tries to move right back foot- you have a better chance at creating some opportunities for yourself with throwing Floyd off of his rhythm, at least.

    3. Don't let Floyd get set on his back right foot to throw the right hand. This is key. You cant stand in Floyd's wheel-house to throw that right hand to score when he feels like. Do NOT take two of them in a row if you can help it. Keep him moving backwards to his right... taking power off of the right hand by taking away the leverage. Make him throw the left hook- which is his Floyd slowest and most telegraphed punch.

Floyd's left hook is so lazy that it makes me laugh when he tries to throw it.

    That's it for me.

Dunno anymore?!?! With Floyd partying harder than ever, with his diet changing, and now he appears to be smoking, not to mention his age and at this point in his career, eyeing retirement- he may be more vulnerable than ever now.

I dunno why but I just have a feeling Maidana is going to land a fight changer somewhere around the 5th.

Currently in Turkey so will be up 6ish local time to catch it. Can't wait

"Partying harder than ever" "Diet changing" "He appears to be smoking"

Where do you get this crap!!? Just because you type something on Saddo's -- that doesn't make it true.

Maidana shoulda gotten the nod the first time n took Mayweather by surprise.

This time Floyd should make adjustments and win a UD.

But, it's going to be very exciting early on.

Maidana could do it and be catching Floyd at the right age and time.

Default iF FLOYD GOES 49-0 OR 50-0 EITHER WAY ITS A PROBLEM

49-0 he will never have exceeded marciano
50-0 then 50 cent will say he did it to be like 50 cent

maywether needs to go 51-0 to feel happy inside.
