Default your opinion on what factors have made Floyd great

A lot of negative stuff about Floyd lately so I figure I'd try something positive. We don't need to talk about his recent links to Lance Armstrong and Manny Rameriz, let's keep it positive.

I seriously think Floyd's jab is a major factor in his successor. I think he could win a fight on points just using that jab.

Can't not talk about that defense. IMO there is no way he could have lasted so long without it. The guy makes his defense more exciting than his offense. I often watch fighters highlights of defense on YouTube. Tyson in his prime was probably the best hw defense I've seen of recent era. No matter what the caliber of Floyd's opponents his defense is a thing of art. All the peds in the world couldn't make that. I think we are coming to the end of the Floyd and Manny era, it's not like boxing will stop with these guys gone but it will be sad to see it happen. I hope they both go out gracefully.

Coming from a non fan here but in a way..his attitude and arrogance. Not caring a single percent what the fans, the press and every other single person on Earth thinks or says about your style or execution has to some sort of asset and a total clean slate. Its one thing to run your mouth and act a clown but when that is accompanied with a master defense and boxing mind its massive. And in case I didn't mention it the guy is a total twat

Floyd's a great business man and fighter, but his legacy will be tested.

Kids want his success, not adopt his fighting moves.

I have not studied him a lot, all I can say so far Floyd has couple of trademark techniques (apparently shoudler roll and pull counters), the rest like jab, footwork is nothing really new and flashy, it is just that he is doing well, at a right time and in the right place.

So, in my mind, I cannot invision some youtube highlights of Floyd , which will inspire future technicians 10 years from now. What is inspiting is what Pernel WHitaker did, James Toney to an extent ( in Bakley fight), Roy Jones, SRL, Tyson.

He seems like a nice guy, so innocent somehow. I think he done everything right, And the beef between him and pac, arum or whatever it's funny, because the whole world talking about it, People saying stuff they shouldn't and making fun of both floyd and pac online, i've heard some good jokes about both of them. It brings me a good laugh, as long as i'm happy I'm fine with whatever he's doing

Chutzpah, joi devivre, style and oodles of it. It's an ineffable thing, that kind of arrogance in a physical manifestation is pretty unique and unparalleled. The Eubanks try to emulate it but it's not a facade for Floyd, it's in his DNA and not just genetically, it's a carefully cultivated approach built on confidence in a peerless execution of technique.

It's hard not to pile on the superlatives but I think despite him not being TBE in my opinion he is a great boxer. He might be a great fighter too but he has not had to pull it out of the fire so far, so superior has his technique been.

Now I need to go and rinse my mouth out..

I also dislike Floyd in many ways but I am always in awe watching him box. His personality reminds me of Ruthless Rocco but despite that being a boxing fan you can't help appreciate what the guy does.

Just his ability to shut down his opponents offence. It's so impressive seeing multi weight world champions just standing infront of him utterly bomboozled. He almost lacks defining victories because a lot of his defining fights have been so one sided. His consistency is also fantastic. He has everything other than one punch ko power.

    Floyd is a smart fighter.

Too smart to avoid all possible fighters who would be able to knock him out in their peak.

He said it himself. He does not want to be hurt because he values his life more than his reputation. I cannot judge him on that. Boxing is a dangerous sport after all.

Anyway, that leads me to my point. He is not great yet in my record. Not after he fights Pac whom I consider to be in the level of Armstrong (nearest) , SRR, Ali, etc.

I suppose to some (morons) greatness in boxing comes down to fighting EVERYBODY. If that were the case then Emannual Augustus or Glen Johnson or Yori Boy Campas are the greatest fighters.

But we all know there's more to it than that. Being great doesn't mean you take on everyone it means you know your abilities--your strengths and your weaknesses and you use them to your advantage.

You say Floyd isn't great because he never fought a long rangy fighter (and you ignore Coralles, because it doesn't suit your argument) and that proves he's not great?

You can count the number of rounds Floyd's lost on your fingers and toes.

Think a little people. There's no question that Floyd is an all time great.
