Default Joe Frazier ~ 1965 Article labeled him 'An Awkward Clumsy Bull'

    July 1965

Olympic Heavyweight Champion ~ resembles an awkward and clumsy bull.

We're not sure where this Philadelphia-based Heavyweight will end up, but it
is not going to be in the Top 10 very soon.

In a recent training-session, the 1964 Olympic Gold Medalist in the Heavyweight
Division, was displaying nothing more than average skills for an amateur.

We now realize, that he wasn't even the 1st-Choice for the Olympic Boxing Team,
as he had lost in the finals of the Box-Offs.

What we saw, was a fighter who is far away from competing with even 'Grade-C'
    level Heavyweights.

Yes, it's obvious Joe being HW champion was the sign of an extremely weak era.

Promoting these guys to god like status was nothing more than revisionist history to suit an agenda.

Unfortunately, technology caught up with the lies, now even the casual fan can see for themselves.

The 2 biggest morons on this site agree with one another. We are all safe in the knowledge that we are right and they are wrong.

Tyson never made it to the Olympics as he lost to a fighter he later smashed in the pro ranks.

    You seem quite 'truculent' today.

You know what truculent means, don't you.

I am sure there is an article somewhere saying Ali was not the greatest when he was.

I don't hate Joe Frazier. I hate the mythology of Joe Frazier. I appraise him according to his ACTUAL ability in both directions, those he'd beat and lose to and have a competitive fight with.

Anything I've said derogatory about Frazier is purely to illustrate a comparison.

Hate has nothing to do with it. I don't even know him and he seemed like a decent guy. Just shocking at boxing, but it didn't matter then because there was nobody to fight!

Of course Joe looked a bit clumsy when he got started.

He was a 'southpaw' that was converted to the orthodox stance.

And he originally got into to boxing to lose weight, not to make it a career.

Joe's weight was up to 230 lbs. when he was a teenager.

That is what the so-called Boxing Experts said.

But, Joe wrote with his right-hand.

Some of the early Joe followers said, that Joe fought from the southpaw stance
because he was never taught proper technique when he first got started.

When I started boxing I naturally went to a southpaw stance because I wanted my right hand (which is the strongest) to jab people in the face. I was told I should go orthodox and developed a brilliant (Ike Quartey/Thomas Hearns/Mike McCallum) jab with my left.
