LOLOL.... what a joke. I had Larry to win that without even fighting. lololol.... everyone thought Butterbean would have knocked Larry's block off, but that doesn't work like that.

PS: Tyson clips Holmes, pound for pound and prime for prime, and finishes him just as much as he finished him in their fight. The rounds may vary. But Tyson is a much better finisher than Witherspoon and the rest of them.
A shame Witherspoon couldn't finish the champ when he had him. But Larry was always a cut above the average fighter and/or average champion, but Tyson wasn't average.

That's the first Larry Holmes fight I ever saw because it happened when I just got into boxing. 53 year old Holmes outboxing a toughman fighter.

I guess any Butterbean fight is gross, what a fat man, I can't believe he went 12 rounds even if it was in his plodding, inactive style.

Even 10 rounds is amazing. I think every other fight had been 4 rounders and those hardly ever went the distance anyway.

I wonder if he was the heaviest man to ever go 10 rounds, he outweighed even Valuev.

Looking back on it, I didn't realize at that time..Holmes went on a 6-0 streak including the Mercer fight followed by a 12 rounder with Holy.
Had to check out boxrec...wow he won 7 more? before a decision loss to McCall & then some. Yeah, Tyson blasted Holmes so cold, I forgot that Holmes was still a viable fighter.
Holmes read the same book to Mercer that cream puff Francisco Damiani had prior. He showed more holes on Ray and boxed his ears clean off save for a single lone uppercut that snapped his nose like a dry twig. Very respectable classroom put on by Holmes here no doubt and solid cagey effort vs Holyfield but by no means was that a draw Holmes comeback for the majority was extremely well choreographed and he was oozing guile, snap jabs and a lot of trap fighting shuffling back and forth to ropes. He maxed out the effort and did very well but Ribalta hurt him, Ferguson had him out on his feet and I thought beat him, similarly with Quinn Navarre.
Holyfield definately beat Holmes but the old man made him work for the victory.
