Default Naseem Hamed v Floyd Mayweather

Who wins - prime for prime at featherweight.

Watching IamInuit thread where Naz fought Tom Johnson and forgot how quick, brutal puncher and southpaw he was.

All these qualities would give Floyd problems and they were wanting to fight one another at one stage. It would have been an excellent fight. I think Naz timing could possibly cause Floyd big problems and he may have even stopped him.

Don't go thinking way back then that Floyd was the fighter he is now. I do believe Floyd wanted to fight Naz at a catch weight and Naz's camp didn't want to know. Floyd wins pretty handily in my book.

I just can't see Naz being consistent enough to beat Floyd, or even push him past the middle rounds. Tom Johnson and Steve Robinson were solid wins, but NOWHERE near Floyd's class. Floyd boxes him silly, even more thoroughly than Barrera did.

I doubt Naseem had anything for Floyd, too much of a skill and size advantage for Floyd. Nas started at 114 and topped out at featherweight, Floyd started at super featherweight and would have had a ton of reach on the Prince.

All I can think of is Floyd calling out Hamed in one of his post fight interviews with Larry Merchant and Larry just bluntly saying "...Floyd, Naseem isn't going to fight you." Horrible matchup for a guy like Prince, who was constantly throwing himself off balance.

Complete mismatch and Naz' side knew it. They wouldn't consider fighting Floyd

I think maybe people don't respect how good Floyd was at 130 or 35. I don't think Morales, MAB , Marquez, or Hamed would have even won a single round off Mayweather at any weight.

Corrales or Castillo would have killed any of those guys for a certain amount of time, if they had tried to move up more quicky, IMO.

Nope. Natta. Never. Johnson was going life and death with Beleno going in and looking very shop worn truth be told. I think Mayweather would have got into Hameds head big time and made him look silly hoping for an off balance bomb.

Mayweather would have made a fool out of Naz.

The first time Naz fought an elite level fighter (Marco Antono Barrera) his silly hands down, lunging in style was made to look amateur

Naz was lucky in that he retired at the right time. I think had he had carried on fighting, he would have ran into an upcoming Pac-Man, or Morales or a J.M.Marquez.

Naz reminds of those male tennis player who had a huge serve and a decent all round game. Players like Goran Ivanisevic or Andy Roddick

Their huge serve won them easy points. They won tournaments and both won one grand slam, but they came up short when they faced the elite players, in Goran Ivanisevic's case that's Sampras, Agassi etc, in Roddicks thats Federer, Nadal, Murray, Djokovic but they were fairly consistent players who often made the latter stages of Slams.

Same with Naz, he was so reliant on his power, that he did have the all round boxing skills to beat an elite fighter. Without his power he would lost to Augie Sanchez and Kevein Kelly and struggled against Wayne McCullogh and Paul Ingle.

I remember Naz's website and his predictions page for each of the major fighters around at the time.

he predicted he'd KO Floyd in 2

As said I agree that he'd make Naz look a fool and have him chasing shadows. Floyd by UD (120-10 or maybe by late KO

Does anyone on here remember that there was a forum on Naz's website too

ps an 8 followed by a ) puts an effing sunglases cool smilie in ffs

That's terrific! Big words from a guy who never even tested himself or his power at 130.

I think Floyd probably would have finished him. Floyd at 130 was a much different fighter from today. At that weight he had big power in both hands, he was lightning quick, an amazing counter puncher but most of all he was VERY aggressive and hungry. Combine all that with the size advantage (5'8'', 72" reach to Naseem's 5'4", 64" inch reach) and Prince get's absolutely annihilated. Not even close IMO.

I hated him when he faught because I thought he was horribly overrated. I made a killing on the Berrera fight off the casual fans who thought Naz was a god. But he always made me laugh. And I watch his highlight tapes every month or 2 and documentaries about him too. So maybe.like SRL, over the years I have become a bit of a fan.

That would be a great fight and at 126/130 I'd most likely toss a coin. The closest style wise that Floyd ever came across was a half spent Augustus. I disliked Hamed immensely during his day but it was not a genetic imprint which appears to be the case for others. How anyone can dismiss Hameds chances against Floyd at the feather area is simply beyond belief.
