    Default Hozumi Hasegawa

Reading his record and never seeing him fight other than the upset loss to Montiel. What a very good and under rated fighter.

He had a five-year, 10 title defense streak and taking his WBC bantamweight title. The knockout came as a surprise Hasegawa was clearly leading until the end of the fourth, when Montiel landed a left that stunned Hasegawa and pushed him back to the ropes, where he unloaded until the referee stopped the fight.

Hasegawa returned to the ring after losing to Kiko against undefeated Mexican Horacio Garcia. He won the fight comfortably via UD over 10 rounds.

His two wins over Veeraphol Sahaprom; the second by TKO were defining. He also defeated a young unbeaten Vetyeka. Fought the likes of Vusi Malinga, Fernando Montiel, Juan Carlos Burgos, Jhonny Gonzalez and Kiko Martinez.

The Japanese press had been urging him to retire prior to the Horacio Garcia fight but he proves he still has a bit to offer winning a wide decision.

At this stage he is still a very capable gatekeeper and a good test for rising prospects. Against the elite I think he'll struggles.

Look at the similar thread option below, he was a cult hero on this forum years ago. For about 5 year stretch he was brilliant. Was duffing up Johnny Gonzalez before getting chinned too. In his pomp awesome speed and a far bigger puncher than his record suggests.
