    Default Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon

I caught a highlight reel of this kid the other day. He is phenomenal! Obviously he's never gonna get that much exposure as hes a straweight, but still, his skills are tremendous. I know I'm gonna get jumped on for this, but if people will actualy look at footage of him, I say his pure boxing skills are on a par with Mayweather's, I cant choose. Anyone else got any views on the little man?

Without his weight class being exposed, or being as deep as others, it's hard to gauge how good he is. But from what I've seen, he has for-real skill.

I think the division is full of talent and good fighters

    Yutaka Niida
    Rodel Mayol
    Eagle Kyowa

Theres also the posibility of moving up to 108 and fighting these guys

    Roberto Vasquez
    Hugo Cazares
    Ulises Solis
    Nelson Dieppa
even Brian Viloria that would be a great match up 'puncher vs. boxer'

I agree with moving up. I have watched those guys, but I havent seen Mayol or Kyowa, only what I've read, and action speaks louder than paper.

What would you say to a Iron Boy vs. Hawaiian Punch showdown?

Great fight. Would love to see it. They should try to make that fight and put it on the same card as Arce vs Darcinyan, what a night!

calderon has skills but lacks power. rodel mayol has power and skills but hasn't been tested against the best. i think he can beat ivan. mayol is an exciting fighter and if he beats kyowa on may 6, which i think he will, he just might face calderon.

I'd love for him to move up in weight and see how his skill does with raw power from the bigger boys.

i don't think he can compete with the elite fighters if he moves up. besides, he's too short.

Yeah, he does look like a little boy.

His defense is unbeatable at his weight. Opening up his defense is possible. The only way to beat him is to sound off Ice Cream Truck music, during the fight. So he turns to his corner and asks "Do you have any quarters?"

CC for raising the issue,I think these little guys deserve waaaaay more credit than they recieve! I have seen him in action a few times and I think if he were to fight Viloria, it would be awesome!!!! What do you guys think of Boom Boom Bautista?

I would love to see a Viloria Calderon matchup, that would be nice. Sort of on a side note, do you ever think the smallest weights will get the exposure they need for big money fights? I know 10, 20 years ago you wouldnt of predicted how much exposure featherweight and lightwieght were going to get (and be more exciting than heavyweight), but I dont ever see divisions like Straweight drawing attention. Its a shame because fighters like Vasquez, Calderon and Viloria deserve greater exposure and recognition for their skills.

the little lads dont get anywhere near the exposure and publicity that there skills deserve. no one wants to see em, its a shame.
