Default Chocolatito to defend title on GGG-Wade card

Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez to fight McWilliams Arroyo in co-feature of Gennady Golovkin title defense

According to an article on ESPN Deportes, the fight with Chocolatito was first offered to Mexican fighter Juan "Gallo" Estrada, but he declined. Now the defense will be against Puerto Rican fighter McWilliams Arroyo, brother of IBF super flyweight champ McJoe Arroyo.

I like McWilliams better than McJoe and thought his SD loss to Amnat Ruengroeng in 2014 could've gone either way. But Chocolatito is whole 'nother ballgame, considered by most the #1 p4p fighter in the world today. I'll be rooting for McWilliams, but keeping my hopes in perspective.

Can't blame Estrada for ducking Gonzalez.

I doubt Estrada ducked him. Their first fight was pretty close. They probably could not agree on money or something. Be cool to get a clearer picture of what happened. Estrada v Gonzalez 2 is one of the fights I was really hoping for this year. As to Arroyo's chances I'd say not very good. As a twin I'm always fascinated in the head to head comparisons in sports where both take part. One of the Charlo’s is clearly better than the other and the same can be said for the Arroyo's.

McWilliams is decent but would much prefer for Chocolito to face McJoe as I think hes the better brother although up a weight class. Should be a handy win for Gonzalez.

Good to see Gonzalez fighting again Stateside. McWilliams is decent but he's going from ankle deep to neck deep here. Best thing about this fight is its at the Forum, may still see rematch with Estrada.

Seeing Arroyo's last couple of fights, I see nothing he has that would trouble Gonzalez. He doesn't have the speed or power Viloria had. Nor the experience Sosa had. Pretty much a step backwards for Gonzalez. Fight will be as competitive as Golovkin-Wade

Hey, if these two keep sharing bills together it's terrific, and as I've never seen Arroyo or much at all of Wade I can't cry to much about these fights. See it as about the same as the last bill they were on, on paper at least. I never gave David Lemiuex any kind of chance against GGG, Wade is undefeated and seems to have the kind of style that in theory GGG hasn't faced much, it might be a complete slaughter but it's no more a foregone conclusion than that fight was imo.

Gonzalez should roll through Arroyo. There was talk of him fighting Kono at 115 so the Estrada rematch may get pushed further away.

Yeah, an Arroyo win would have to be considered an upset of epic proportions. Gonzalez is the consensus # 1 p4p in the world today, and deservedly so. The "going from ankle-deep to neck-deep" description is totally on point. Kudos to Arroyo for taking such a huge challenge at this stage of his career.... but honestly I can't see this ending any other way than a Gonzalez KO win.
